Anybody know how Jesús Herrada goes uphill? His brother's pretty good at it (4th in Circuito Montañes, 6th in Vuelta a Asturias, stage win in a less than totally flat stage of the Volta a Portugal), and Jesús was also top 10 in the prologue and 6th in the U23 Euro Champs ITT. If his climbing is the same as or better than his brother he's an interesting prospect.

you could also reverse the question and ask why they feel so attacked.

Because Ryo seems a little aggressive in his assesments...thats all. As for Telansky..he can climb and was the rider the team was working for. Ben King can also climb, but he was being used as a mule in this race for Telansky. Didn't King win the KOM in a race in Portugal earlier this season? Anyway...hard racing to be sure.

aggresive -> direct

people usually wrongly translate directness for aggresiveness.. especially dutch people are usually very direct, and people from other cultures take it the wrong way

many dutch people say what we think out loud.

Dutch or not...direct or not...Ryo is more than a little negative on the US riders...especially since he is wrong here.

It's not the first or second time that he/she posts negative things about the US. I was feeling curious for a moment as to the reason for that sentiment.

Well he is the same about dutch (his own country), belgian, french etc etc
The guy is Dutch but claims Gesink is a terrible limited rider who is boring and has no personality... so there is no nationality bias.
just dont pay attention :p

You will never hear a negative word about Colombians though, thats the exception

No, he forgot some guys, like Degenkolb and Kelderman

Degenkolb won the Thüringer Rundfahrt and a stage in the Tour de Alsace and should defo be with the favs

Kelderman won the Tour de Alsace and won the queen stage on the Ballon d'Alsace and therefore should also definately be considered a favorite

Seems there were a lot of crashes in today's stage, not just Phinney going down. But Jorgensen, Roe, Kennaugh all hit the deck.

I only know him to be a great time-trialist (he's won the Spanish TT championship three times, twice as a junior and once [this year] as u23), but doing some research I see this year he was 2nd in the GC of the Vuelta al Bidasoa, which included a climb up Jaizkibel and a mountain-top finish where he was 5th.

You mean to win the overall? I don't think Degenkolb is one for the bigger climbs.

Degenkolb isn't exactly a climber type at 180/77 and the climbs in Thüringen are not as hard as the ones tomorrow.

In Avenir, at that age group, even the bigger guys can win. Because they have a surplus in physique strength.
