I'll go with the majority and pick Van Avermaet.
I think Ben Hermans could do well in this race.

Rosseler.

I would have a bet on him, but he's in no markets.

He's definitely starting.
I looked at TAB Sportsbet and they had Sanchez featuring, but I don't think he's riding. Roessler was no where to be seen.

Never mind. I remember this race from last year. Bet Rosseler on the climb and cheered when he got up.

The climb is too hard for Howard and those sprinters. Way too hard. I can't see Van Avermaet contesting the finish either.

Gilbert, Visconti, Leukemans, Voeckler, Rosseler, De Gendt, Poels - one of them wins IMO. If it's a small group, Rosseler is probably out of it, though if he has the legs he can hold on.

TAB? They don't cover these small races...or do they? I know they cover the big ones..

Can't see a market there anywhere.

A shame this race has a new route, and changed it's place on the calendar. I liked it much better old style. Hopefully a better edition than last years'.

Not really, this race used to have it's own identity, with some recognisable hills like the Alsemberg and the Bruine Put. Now it has some random hills (that last year at least appeared to be easier), with a cobblestone hill where the entire peloton rode on the sidewalk.

It still has his own identity, opposed to Het Volk, E3, Dwars door Vlaanderen ... which are all mini-RVV's

Its place on the calendar is perfect, an ideal preparation for the Amstel.

From the interview he gave to some Belgian newspapers before, it seems more like a motivational problem?

"If it wasn't for the good wage, I wouldn't be a cyclist"
"All that climbing, I don't really like it"
"I don't do 5 hours training a day for fun"
"It would be easier if I liked the bike a bit more"
...

Totally agree; big improvement I think, and the kermis-like finishing circuit is pretty cool I think. The calendar spot is kind of a 'meh'; but where else is it going to go? Other than swapping spots w/Scheldprijs this is about it. The big favorites might not be targeting this one but there are enough good guys the racing will be exciting. I also have a bit of a soft spot for this one now as it's the last gasp of the cobbles for the year. :(

Kind of a hard one to pick I think; still might be some guys a little beat from Roubaix, maybe some guys not wanting to really lay it on the line w/Amstel coming. I could see Staf Scheirlinckx or someone from a little smaller team getting away ftw; Katusha are just desperate, you'll see a guy like Pavel Brut try something. If Van Avermaet,Luekemans, Van Marcke, etc are really interested though, it'll be a different story; depends on motivation/recovery. Just can't see Phil really going for it.
