Imagine being so worried that you lose the sprint to MvdP that you give away all other podium spots. Quite pathetic racing especially by Matthews who did not take a single turn. MvdPs turns actuqlly did cut the gap significantly but than he waves them through at some point obviously and only Küng and Hirschi are bothered at least a bit.
While agree Matthews should of put in more work and raced negatively, to say he didn’t take a single turn is simply untrue. You can make your point without making things up.

Kwiato has one of the best timed bike throws in sprints. He similarly won MSR in 2017 thanks to perfectly timed bike throw to beat Sagan and Alaph.

To be fair, Sagan has a very, very good bike throw too, so I don't think that was why he won MSR but yeah, I agree that Kwiato excels there.

Thoroughly enjoyed the race for the last 60 kilometers. I think this year's edition was a lot better than the watered-down circuit show they did last year. Just a shame that only Asgreen, Küng and MVDP cared to chase down the front-duo.

Kwiato made the winning move, worked hard in the break and was smart in the final. What's there not to like, guys?

The Sky era is over.
Once they were two, Cosnefroy did 80%+ of the work. I've not seen Kwiato work a single time more than 10 sec, while Cosnefroy was accelerating after each turn.
Maybe the camera was on them only when Cosnefroy was working, but I doubt it. He did the same thing again and again to Sagan which was dumb enough to cooperate (E3, MSR, ...)

What the * hell are you talking about? Now a rider cannot even play the game inside the FINAL KILOMETRE without being called a wheelsucker. I'm seriously getting sick of all this clueless *.
He worked almost 0 the last 8 km. Or maybe eurosport paid attention to never show it ?

Watching that 2017 finish in slow-motion is a beautiful thing. Kwiato just aims his bike straight for the line.

Nice race, nice podium
Gutted for Cosnefroy though, if only he threw his bike a bit better...

MVDP wasn't strong enough today. Think he pulled the maximum out of it.
Nice enough race, but the organizers of this race need to be read the riot act. They seem to be unique for finish line issues at this level, and while Motos seem to be an ongoing challenge everywhere, is just seems 10x more blatant here. Sigh ...

It's still sad how much of peak Kwiat we missed because he chose to go for money and be a domestique most of the races. He could've won so much more above what he already won.

Definitely. The saddest thing in cycling of the 2016-2022 period.

Awkward and disappointing for Cosnefroy, but at least he's good enough to free the day from serial AG2R rant from llmaestro
