Before seeing how long it actually took, I'd say everybody was so scared of Gilbert they effectively handed the win over to him by waiting for him to choose his distance and attack.

Ryo you are the WORST, sometimes I wonder if you even watch races at all. Time gaps and group sizes don't mean everything. Last year there were attacks from the foot of the Muur and everyone was on the limit all the way up. Cadel won because Contador and Anton went too early and burned themselves out.

This year, all the favorites were looking at each other right up until 400m to go, when Gilbert went off like a shot and no-one could follow him.

Just watch the damn race.

Yes, agreed.

There was the early attack by Klöden, and then Anton rode a very high tempo which only Contador could go with.

This year nothing really happened until Gilbert opened up (this was probably the same section Contador went on last year).

But that should take nothing away from the victory, Gilbert took the Mur on where none of the other favourites dared, or were able to.
Agreed. Mur was disappointing this year. Usually you get several people attacking and dying at various points.

Anton came from way too far back - finished 5th, should have been 3rd at least

Both Euskaltel guys were way back midway on the climb and still finished 3rd and 5th. You'd think their positioning would have been better if they were going to have a go.

oh yeah and last years group was 95 riders to the mur and this year was 78...

yes but how many riders were left at the muur depends on the racing pre-mur. Also how the time keepers mark out the time gaps vary.

Well and truely fed up with the coverage. I watched it hitch free as the bunch soft pedalled along river banks and then with 20k to go (presumably when everyone logs on to watch?) the coverage becomes stop / start. If you try to refresh you get adverts for Neurofen.

Same thing happened to me last week when I was watching Roubaix.
Where can I get a good, relaible video stream?
Language does not really matter.
Flemish probably preferrable to British Eurosport.

No top 10 finish for Contador. He really wanted to win this one after getting making the podium last year. Another second for Rodriguez. Sanchez must have flown over the last 300 metres or so.

Anton was the only one that could take it away from Gilbert today, a shame he started the Muur 40th or something... cant wait to see him in the Giro, he s gonna kill it

that's not the point. acf said they climbed slower because of how bunched up it was at the finish and I just showed him he was wrong.

gilbert is simply of a different class, he is stronger even than last year. vino same thing. he climbs better than he ever did since his return.

No, that can happen :)

I don't see Gilbert winning LBL sadly, don't know why, but something will happen. I think they will all race against him now.

Gilbert went early, but man he finished the job impressively and could still do a nice celebration dance before finishing XD

They did climb slower until Gilbert gave them something to chase. It was the complete opposite to last year when the climb was attacked from the bottom. This year they were looking at each other until Gilbert followed the Garmin rider.

agreed LBL is more of a tactical race so it doesnt mean you will win eventhough you are the strongest. And I got the feeling that he will be very nervous. But he sure is a contender with vino, schlecks and maybe one of thos katusha dudes

That was awesome. The only thing that bugged me was someone repeatedly asking me whether I wanted a cup of coffee with 500 meters to go.

Gilbert mind-blowingly strong.

If he wins Luik, he won Barabantse Pijl, AGR, FW and LBL in just 12 days.

He also did Paris-Tours, Piemonte and Lombardia in 2009.

That's how good he is when he's in shape.
