Soler missing out on the podium by 1 second, he would have had it had he not celebrated before the finish line two days ago.
One would think all these events finally teach them not to do this... but somehow they just can't help it. Maybe it's uncool for a pro to celebrate after the line.
This is why we see more successful crossovers from cyclo cross than from triathlon.
The guy was a big talent, already 6th on the gc in the Giro della Valle d'Aosta as a first year u23 rider (Aru won the race that year) but then he had some problems with injuries and Mono.- and they forgot Masnada -- one of them being his own DS Brian Holm

Cavagna has also confirmed he is going to the Giro. They'll have a phenomenal team, that's for sure.I don't know in what shape Remco will start the Giro but DQS looks ready, that's for sure.
Armstrong and Porte has done alright, but they were also both swimmers originally, and it's pretty dumb to celebrate before the line in a pool when there isn't an actual finish line.
They will also have the maglia rosa early.Cavagna has also confirmed he is going to the Giro. They'll have a phenomenal team, that's for sure.
Yes, even if I have some doubts if Masnada can keep this shape until the third week hits. That said, he's clearly in the best shape that we have ever seen from him. What a trio. Almeida, Masnada and Evenepoel. the DQS-rider with the best legs alternatively attacks in the Giro (so, not one leader everybody working for the first half of the Giro), than it seems to me that DQS is participating for the podium in the Giro. The second half of the Giro, the team must then work for the rider that turns out to be the strongest.
Just like everyone overrates PhilGil's 2011.
Phil would have won the tt today.
Unlike Woods he had no reason to ride hard, GC was already in the bag.Way better bike handling skills by Woods than Thomas on the descent before the finish. G was really cautious there. It didn't matter in the end.
Keep in mind he started the season slow so I suppose he was building towards the Giro. I wouldn't be surprised if he can keep thus shape till the end.Yes, even if I have some doubts if Masnada can keep this shape until the third week hits. Oh I agree. Thomas even confirmed that in the post race interview and compared it with the Tour 2018 ITT where he also didn't risk in the finale, as he knew, he only had to cross the finish line to take the Tour victory.Unlike Woods he had no reason to ride hard, GC was already in the bag.
This is the best he has ever looked, if he keeps this shape I'm not sure that Almeida is better than him on such a climber friendly Giro route.Keep in mind he started the season slow so I suppose he was building towards the Giro. I wouldn't be surprised if he can keep thus shape till the end.
100% Pick one for your season and that’s it.@King Boonen approves this
