so is de la parte that strong today?
or what is efapel thinking?
around 8 km and they hit the climb
pelotao compacto :p
Efapel has Ricardo Mestre so they can defend the jersey and have a solid option for the mountains at the same time.

de la Parte isn't a mug uphill himself either. Maybe not strong enough to win this race, but I wouldn't be surprised by him still in the top 10 in Lisboa.

Don't expect coverage all the way up, seems like the weather is pretty crappy

Always some nice crowds during the volta

Things breaking up big-style early on, some major hurt going on. Mountain echelons. That's something new! Gamito is gone. Byron Guama is gone.

What an entertaining stage: break, a solo from the break, a pair attacks from the peloton, sprints for KOM and points jersey, Efapel going solo for a while, crosswinds... What else? Ah yes a MTF as well!...

If you take the Vuelta out of consideration.

For the Volta, it's something new. Apologies, I was responding to the "that's not something you see every day in the Volta a Portugal" post, but the thread of the discussion got a bit lost as I didn't quote or break my post down into what was responding to what.

Figueiredo leading the line for Boavista. They are probably working for Daniel Silva and Rui Sousa.

horrible weather though, lose major energy here

Yes, he's back, but he's gonna pay this effort later in the climb.

Gaps shouldn't be too big on this anyway, as a one climb stage with the group as big as this with 5km to go. Nothing that can't be won back on Farinha tomorrow.
