Break of the day:
- Hélder Oliveira (POR) | OFM – Quinta da Lixa
- Daniel Freitas (POR) | LA Aluminios - Antarte
- Jorge Montenegro (ARG) | Louletano - Dunas Douradas
- Cesar Avellaneda (COL) | 4-72 - Colombia
- Daniel Durango (COL) | 4-72 - Colombia
- Jesus Del Pino (ESP) | Burgos - BH
- Dmitry Sokolov (RUS) | Lokosphinx
- Samuel Magalhães (POR) | Seleção Portuguesa
- Tim Gebauer (GER) | Team Stolting

I guess Helder Oliveira is the strongest climber although I don't know much about the riders.

Great!! Another new team that most likely won't pay their riders

I would rather have 3 decent teams with up to the date salaries and good racing schedules all year round than what we currently have. Which is like 5/6 crappy budget teams months behind on salaries and racing 2 months per year.

Anyway Larouco isn't too hard. Expect a small group sprint. The gaps were pretty big on the Volta do Futuro but that is because Ruben Guerreiro, despite only being 20, is light years ahead of every u23 rider in portugal and no top u23 were in the race.

In another news Portugal is going to L'Avennir and Ruben Guerreiro will try to be in top shape there  You know what to do Rui, take Ruben, Frederico and Nuno Bico to lampre now!! :p

all the ct teams in portugal have a greatg calendar all year around and they dont oay their riders? any sources? I wouldn't understand the foreigners at least staying there if it's true.

I don't know a lot but just this year OFM only confirmed the presence in the race the day before the start. Apparently the riders fired the team manager because they aren't getting paid for 6 months or something like that. The DS was keeping the sponsors money for "personal expenditures" instead of paying riders; Jesus Rosendo is the new DS now.
Also it's very common to give young riders really small contracts, something like 400€ a month or less, and then they still have to pay all food supplements and other stuff from their pocket. At least these are the stories running around the peloton.
Regarding the calendar it's not all that good now: Portugal had 2.1 races like Volta ao Distrito de Santarém, Alentejo or GP CTT Correios. Now only Alentejo subsists as a 2.2 race; also with the reduced number of races in Spain, the portuguese teams don't really ride a lot outside the domestique calendar, except Algarve, Castilla e Leon and a few 1.1 spanish races.

they don't have to. their market is portugal and they do a ton of races there. the portugese calendar got alot better since few years again. I know mist dutch ct riders don't get paid anything/ they have to pay themselves

At least they did better out of it than PinoRoad. At least Guardiola and Oroz were able to get a ride after it, even if it took a few months and was with Team Ukyo. I thought PinoRoad had the potential to be an interesting addition to the péloton in Spanish and Portuguese races this year, but it was all a big sham.

Of course, I agree with you that market wise there's no big interest in riding abroad. I was thinking more in the perspective of developing young riders. For instance: Nuno Matos and Frederico Figueiredo are two young pure climbers that can possibly achieve a decent level. In Portugal they have like 2 decent MTF a year to show their worth. And with low level competition that may not be the best way for them to improve.
