Fuglsang needs to attack right from the bottom of the climb tomorrow. It's his last chance to finally win the Tour de Suisse. He already has been 2nd & 3rd before.

Israel desperately needs the points though. So he won't go all-in up towards Malbun!

Fuglsang has very often overestimated his own TT-abilities and in danish interview after todays stage it actually sounded like he thought he had a decent chance agaisnt Thomas in the TT, so its possible he wont feel the need to attack as much as the rest of us thinks he will have to. But clearly he has to try and gain a minute or so if he wants to win overall meaning he have to attack at least when the climb gets hard with 6,5 km to go. .

He used to have a good TT back in his Saxo Bank years. But that's 10 years ago. Something he hasn't really confirmed ever since.

Not to mention ITTs are the least risky race in regards to covid transmission by a country mile.
I don't think the outbreaks happen in the field. The exposures only take one rider or staff person within their bubble to become infected and they most don't have symptoms. The pace of races are robust enough that the highest risk is....everywhere from the point the riders are in proximity and not able to take any precautions which means they just can't race without some exposure. Tough to consider a year of training before your chosen GT target and end up out, though.

let's hope it won't be much less at the start. Could be a fun stage, with this small peloton. Teams with multiple GC options like Bora, Ineos or Groupama normally should attack right from the start - there's no way IPT can control this.

Ineos definitely shouldn't. With the TT, Thomas is virtual yellow.

Thomas should only follow Fuglsang and Higuita.

The rest of the GC field are made up of puncheurs, breakaway climbers/doms and Küng. Normally, you wouldn't expect them to be able to attack if the pace from Ineos or Israel is high enough.

It's basically all about how long Van Baarle is able to pull. Since Lukmanier pass is quite steady and far from Malbun it shouldn't be much of a problem. Unless someone goes totally loco.

dunno, there's no reason for guys like Schachmann, Großschartner or Reichenbach not to join the breakaway, and IPT definitely won't be able to bring it back. It all depends on Ineos then, to either chase it down, or join it with someone like Martinez, and put all pressure on IPT

Not entirely impossible that Pinot or maybe Masnada challenge for the GC lead, this break could well be big enough for such a weak peloton to lose control of completely.

the break splited and Pinot will try to do a Froome, but with the valley i'm afraid he'll get Denz'ed by others from the break.

Most of the break has come back together as we reach the end of the descent of Lukmanierpass, over 7 minutes up on the peloton so Burgaudeau, Pinot and Masnada are the top-3 on the road now.
