Aru was on his wheel and tried to follow but he didnt have Contador's acceleration....Contador just issuing a warning to Aru that he is recovered

It doesn't really matter if Aru cannot follow the acceleration if he and Richie can do the same w/kg for 20-30 mins.

I think Contador just wanted to have good position for when the road went downhill.

For such a big fan of Contador, you sure do downplay how good he is. Aru was watching him and didn't/couldn't react. He was just testing his legs otherwise no way Amador would have bridged so easily.

In the slow-mo it was obvious Aru was watching the other way and when he saw Contador, he started to accelerate.

Really not good awareness by Aru. Intelligent by Contador. A little effort which can have provided him a significant confidence advantage. Before saturday Aru has to try something to gain the pink jersey to have at least that little advantage that starting itt last gives you. If there was a possibility today on the downhill Contador prevented it very well.

Amador countered easily because it's a punchy climb, with not so much gradient. Just like Gilbert would've countered him if he'd reacted.
But Contador himself looked really good, powerful acceleration and Aru definetely cracked there. He is not the type of guys who thinks "Oh I'm not gonna bother, the summit is near." He just jumps on everything that moves.

LOL these rumours about Contador DQ because he was fixing his helmet hahaha
Most people asking for a DSQ on twitter are Australian or British. Why am I not surprised?

Talking about it is feeding the troll. Nothing will happen around that. And although i don't agree with porte's penalty contador's helmet is a completely different situation.

He looked really sharp with the attack.. Seems like his form is rising. Porte didn't follow, did he?

Aru definitely cracked there, and these lower gradients should favour him more.

It looked to me both were slow to respond it was steep enough I'd say 8-10% there was a roar as he was going. Bring on the Tour.

wow he does indeed look great :) I guess you were pretty excited to see him attack right in front of you :D
It was good to see I hoped he'd do something as I missed the Abetone attack by 500m or so so I guess I'm reading the courses better! I'll post any good pics as I get them. I got a great one of him looking like death on ADH 2013 all pale following RK.

Edit but I'm not posting that while all is good. It can wait! Just positivity for now until doubles done Flo.

Contador now at 65-70% to win with the bookies. Surely because of today's savage attack. Or maybe because he has a 3 minute headstart over Porte at the ITT.

We have no idea how much time (if any) Porte will put into Contador in the ITT. I think Porte fans are overestimating Porte's TT advantage over AC.

Not sure what their estimates are. I find it very hard to estimate this myself. There's just a lot of uncertainty because neither have even shown whether they're in really good form, all they did is show they're better than everyone except Aru and Landa in the mountains.

Contador especially is a big problem for this estimation exercise because there is a lot of variability in his TTs, depending on form.

My best point estimate is 53 seconds in Porte's favour, but a 95% confidence interval around that certainly includes 0.
