The Cauberg is only 0.5 miles long so it might not make that big a difference. If the other climb can be climbed sitting down like Contador said then it looks like Martin has the advantage over him. Contador will have to be much faster than Martin on the climbs like the Cauberg where he can go faster and will have to hold that advantage on the flats and downhills.

This isnt exactly very positive news. Seems we must put our hope in Martins eventual lack of form then.

Of Course. An inform martin will win it easily.

Won't mind a mechanical for him though:D

Medal in the worlds is never a disappointment. Of course the 1st place is the target, but the medal is still good.

Number 1 wins, number 2 looses, the rest is just there ;)

Anyone else excited about the team Bjarne is putting together? Everyday seems to bring more good news.

Kinda ironic but because Contador's suspension saxo didn't have to pay him for a few months, that's paying off right now lol (together with tinkoff)

Its fun how some people were saying he was too slow, how he would "blow" it and not have a strong team for next only 1 month ago.

That was likely wishful thinking on alot of peoples' parts, same as those saying that Froome would destroy the competition in the Vuelta.:D

What does he say?

"very good sergio very good, i will do the climb myself"

he says "i will do the climb myself" as in, bury yourself now on the flat and don't worrie about the climb.

Thanks mate.

Paulinho was indeed amazing, without him a Vuelta win wouldn't have been possible maybe.

Looking forward to FINALLY see a decent shaped team built around AC in a GT. Have never seen him in one. The Tour next year will be intresting, indeed.

2009 Astana.

Oh, you said *around* AC, not *against* him. Apologies. :D:D:D

I had Astana 2009 in mind. A pity it went as it did since it was a pretty strong team indeed.

And, of course, the Team in the Vuelta was indeed good to very good with Paulhino finding his 2004 form, the revolution Majka and add to that Kreutziger and Roche with an in-form Contador for next years Tour. Intresting times.

Loved the clip. Pure interest here. So please indulge and excuse my ignorance. Was that exchange in Portuguese or Spanish? It was so quick, all I could pick up from AC was 'Sergio'. Also, did Sergio respond, as the deeper voice at the end didn't sound like AC's?

Spanish. And Sergio got the message, didnt need to respond, especially since it would waste breath and have to turn around.

Cheers. I had no doubt Sergio would understand Spanish but just wondered if AC was showing his class (again) by encouraging him in his native language:)

Contador is a better sprinter than polyglot:p He was forced to learn english because he is a star;)

On the other hand, big defeat today losing 2:30 in a hilly TT. He should do the road race and Lombardia and end his season to prepare well the next.

His form was ok but nothing special. At least he won his main goal

Would have been much better if he had won the tt. Ridin the Tour tt in rainbows would have annoyed some July fans.

Apparently he still has the flu he caught at the end of the Vuelta.
Not a great ride today, but it happens.
