2013 and 2014, if it's in Ponferrada should be suitable to him.

If he really wants to win Worlds' he should take the Ardennes classics seriously and also focus on the Worlds'.

He will also have to convince the other Spaniards to work for him.

And I don't agree he should focus on the Ardennes and the worlds, it is just a waste of energy, it's better to focus on the stage races which is actually the only type of race he's good at :) :D

If Contador focused on the classics or worlds road race I think he could have a good chance of winning or getting a podium. But I agree with LaFlo he should stay focused on grand tours and other stage races, that is what he is best at and what he is most adapted too.

Then don't whine and moan that he will never be World Champion.:p

This doesn't seem to be something for him

That looks a pretty good course.

Should be Very Good for Nibali.

at first your whining was fun but it's getting annoying

you make it seem that he can't do anything, btw there are 2 types of races:

stage race and a classic, you make it seem like he can't do ****

And when he wins you spam everything, you must be a troll, i really hope so

There should be a WC every now and then for his type of rider. My point is that I believe he will never become a great classics rider and he shouldn't risk losing his edge in the stage races.

I think his best chance to become WC would indeed be in tting (2014)

top 10 fw/lbl i think?

But yeah, Alberto doesn't seem so good to me in 250km long classics.

On what do you base yourself?

How many races of 250 km did AC ride at a very good shape???

At LBL 2010 he was actually good, he even closed the gape of AS/Gilbert.

At WC '08 he didn't have a good shape anymore and today he rode for the team and attacked 4,5 times while the TT showed he wasn't so good anymore.

That was it for 250 km races that he rode.

So yeah really???

He can do stage races, because he is a great climber and a good ttist but he isn't a world class ttist and he isn't a great classics rider either although he does everything decent of course. But to win you need to be great.

And I wasn't whining I was merely stating that I think it would not be a good idea to focus on the classics because he might lose his edge in the stage races which would not be a good thing

Btw credit where credit's due you were right he did make the wc exciting :D

No but you said 2014 would be good for Alberto and then when you see the parcours you switch to "it is good for Nibali" :D

He does have a chance.

Seriously it will be a very interesting race.

I think @albertocontador was cool at the Worlds, very visible and solid. I have no doubts that next season we'll see much stronger Alberto!

I like a bit of arrogance on a rider, saying that you will win tomorrow and then destroying the competition is just awesome. Vandebroucke did it, Ricco did it and Gilbert does it, they are more than just cyclists. They are rockstars!:D

Okay I can understand some people like that, I don't but that's my opinion I guess.

Arrogance aside, Gilbert is a very enjoying rider to watch, always on the offensive and making the race hard. On top of that he's got a real winner mentality going for every race he rides. Contador on the other hand has given stages in Grand Tours to other riders on quite a few occasions, something I don't take lightly. A real champion doesn't give away stage wins in the Giro or the Tour.

I don't like it when Alberto gives away stages but it doesn't make me dislike him, there are other things which I find much more important. Besides I don't think it makes him less of a champion.

Gilbert is just so more brutal than Contador IMHO, Contador lack's the grinta and charisma which riders like Gilbert, Cancellara and Boonen possess.

I don't know, maybe Alberto is less interesting but he is humble and always polite and that's one of the reasons I like him. I don't care if he's boring or not I like him because he is a nice guy.

I have no idea how oleg got all his money, though i am rather sceptical of all the new Russian millionaires, but its difficult for me not to have a soft spot for a guy who likes cycling so much that he buys his own cycling team and registers himself as a rider.

Giving away stages has proven productive for Alberto. It's part of cycling/tactics. Tiralongo -> Giro -> Fuente Dé -> Contador -> Vuelta winner

Who cares how he got his money as long as he invests it in cycling. :)
