I don't see how anyone can criticise Contador's performance in the 2011 Tour. He won many fans on that day to Alpe d'Huez, myself included. That was as courageous a move as I've seen in a Grand Tour, up there with Floyd in 2006. He attacked whenever he could, I seem to recall him having a go on downhill finishes when the Schleck's held back and lost time.

Schlecks didn't hold back on Gap stage they were cracked and dropped...Alberto style!

Would like Nibs to be there also but fear he would be outclassed :(
Who's to say he has already peaked? But then again, he won't be there contesting the 100th Tour, what a shame. :(

Don't fret. This is a self appointed list. Alberto knows who's carnal and a fan.. :)

Fans need Contador. Vast majority of fans. IMO ASO are indifferent cos the Tour is doomed to be successful and profitable with him and without him. They won't take away WC from French teams for Saxo.

You were a nibali fan back when he was a boring overrated wheelsucker who's annual season aim was top 10 in the tour. Yep really something to be proud of;)

I would like to see Froome, Andy and Alberto all at top form battle it out myself :) It would be amazing to watch. Would like Nibs to be there also but fear he would be outclassed :(

He's outclassed. Not enough climber and not enough TT.

Besides he tends to always overestimate himself, it's awesome to see but you gotta know your limits. Lack of experience, I guess.

He's pretty much Sami with no sprint.

But he knows his place "The only guy i'm afraid off is Alberto Contador" He said something like that, you gotta love those quotes;)

Quadrofoglio d'Oro, no idea what it is, a twitter peep said it was some prize for cyclists who've made a mark in the sport

Alberto looks fit to me:)

my opinion is that saxo will get invited.
but sadly you are right, we're talking about aso here. they've let USPS slaughtering the field but didn't invite poor marco with his mercatone in what could have been little bit of happines in his already devastated heart.

Pantani was on the decline in 2003 and couldn't frighten Lance iirc. But the key point is absolute french ASO priority. But again somehow I think Contador will move to Movistar if Saxo doesn't get license.

silly hitching thinking about 2009 :p 2008 was the year, with nibali being on a lot of breaks on both the giro and the tour and still finishing top 20 on both at the tender age of 22/23. 09 tour was just a confirmation of the talent and 2010 was the year he established himself as a top guy instead of a talented kid.

+1

He also showed himself off at the Olympics. Really like(d) him, but it is much harder when Cineteq talks about him..

well it's simple, everyone needs to adhere there now. hopefully bjarne too
the idiots want to ruin what is left of pro cycling no doubt. yep bring shiity teams, i really want to watch those for 5 hours in the front of tv, fools

they still don't get it that no matter what they do,the image in the eyes of the public will never ever be erased. that's why i think this could have been the perfect moment to say stop and renounce for good at the witch hunting

If Alberto doesn't know by the end of February if Saxo is invited to the tour he'll ride il Giro.

Would be bad news for Wiggins and Nibali, but good news for the Giro :)
