Wow... Froome almost 30 sec quicker than Alberto at the first time check. I'm surprised, I expected Froome's legs to be heavy at this stage of the Vuelta. Thought there was a good chance Alberto could maybe pip him in the TT.

Started off a bit too quickly unfortunately.

He is a bit below par, compared to the other guys. He could have started a bit easier today but nonetheless he would have lost quite some time as well.
I don't know what he should do tomorrow. Froome is a beast, Quintana should probably be alright to return to the mountains, Contador is not able to ride as strong as he would have liked, is there any chance he can turn things aroung?
I believe not...

Damn, that's disappointing. Started off way too quickly, he raced the last 2/3rds as fast as Chaves and Quintana :(
Froome looks too strong for Berto to aim for the stage win tomorrow, no way he can move up in the GC either, pretty much nothing to race for tomorrow :( so I suppose that means: attack with 100km to go :p

Really expected him to be much stronger at this Vuelta. For Froome, with a TDF win in his legs + Olympics, to take 2 minutes on him in this TT is significant. The gap between them is massive.

His options go through being with Froome tomorrow when the Brit makes his move.
Don't agree. He's fighting for second place at best whatever he does. Better to ally with Movistar, who have the strongest team and the strongest climber - to try to close a smaller gap to Froome.

If he goes in attack with Froome then a) the break will most likely not succeed being chased by Movistar and Orica, and he could end up losing the podium, and b) if, by some miracle, it does succeed, there's no way he will take several minutes on Froome - so the best he could hope for is 2nd anyway in that scenario.

Contador must absolutely avoid Froome (and Quintana) at the Tour de France next year. He will just be pummelled yet again. His best hope of another GT victory is if there is a relatively weak field at the Giro.

Contador is basically 1 minute ahead of Chavez now so I think Contador might try something tomorrow because he isn't going to lose 1 minute to Chavez for sure. He has little bit of freedom.
Wouldn't say that, if he blows himself up Chaves can definitely gain over 1 minute. I hope Chaves and Berto try something together though, from far.

I don't think that Chavez and Contador alliance would work because they are basically fighting for the same spot eventhough Contador has it almost secured. Also they would both try to save their energy for the last climb so the break wouldn't function that well.

Did Contador actually sign his contract with @TrekSegafredo? Rumors from the Vuelta say he is talking to Movistar and Bahrain.

FFS Berto make my dream come true and go to Lampre
The signs have been there
Bet he's just putting pressure on Trek " if you don't want me, that's fine, I'll go elsewhere" he knows how to play this game

Unzue would probably eat his own hand to sign Alberto, but I can't see it happening

Contador in Movistar would be an epic sight in my opinion but I think that it is highly unlikely.

How much would I pay to see Contador and Nibali both as leaders in one team in a gt. Make it happen and see the cycling world burn

That would be brilliant and fans of boring calculated cycling would be crying their eyeballs out.

Well, to be honest my dream would be a duel of the two in the giro next year, but both in one team would definitely be fun too. However I just really don't see it happening although Bahrein probably still needs a leader for the tour next year since Nibali will most likely ride the giro.

Maybe they target only stage wins in Tour. We can expect Team Sky to be as dominant as last year in Tour and if Froome is as strong as he was this year then it is going to be tough ask for any team to win. But what we saw was lots of stage wins gifted to breakaway by peloton so hunting stage wins might be better tactics for new team like Bahrain.
