i think without his crashes in Tdf and Vuelta , Contador would have fought for the win with Quintana and Froome here

i hope he just rides for 2 more years and has a chance to bury Quintana chances to win sometime in the future.

"I thought that Movistar would give us a hand today to return the favour we did them on Formigal, but at the end the team has its own tactics and you cannot depend on other teams."

Oh and by the way, I hope the show we saw today helps dismantle once and for all the madness of a possible deal between Contador and Movistar.
yeah, that is certain :p Alberto said he is very excited for next year's "project" so I assume that means he's already signed, which probably means he'll go to Trek anyway

I would prefer to see Contador and Nibali in the same team.
Would be nice but I don't see it happening now, it really sounds like the deal with Trek is done and dusted. I hate hate hate where the money for the Bahrain team comes from but it seems like a nice bunch of riders and for some odd reason I'd like Contador to be a bit of a "bad guy" and go for the big bucks.

Like when he signed with Astana and Tinkoff.

That's hardly big bucks. In 2010, he was offered a contract by Astana, worth a total of 32 million for 4 years. Yes, you read that right. That's 8 million a year. Instead, he went to Saxobank, where he got 3.5 million plus an additional 2 million from Specialized. When he re-signed with Saxo-Tinkoff after his ban, he agreed to a lower salary because he couldn't earn any points for two years. At the end of 2013, when the team's future was uncertain because Tinkov had initially pulled out as a co-sponsor, he took a 15% paycut. Not sure what his contract is worth currently (remember it was signed in March 2015) but I don't think we can say he's always gone for the money. Signing for the Bahrain Torture Team for big money would be next level bad guy :D

This I agree with. Wish they weren't coming into cycling tbh. It's bad enough the sport being dominated and made into an unlevel playing field by mega-corporations like Sky and Movistar, without having some billionaire dictator showing up.

How many minutes do you guys reckon Contador will win next year's Tour by? He's still the best. Froome can't challenge him.

if we use Vuelta as the base to guest, I would say no chance for Contador. He will be lucky if he can fight for the podium. Froome with TDF leg, racing ITT and road race in the olympics, come to Vuelta and still get second. That's impressive. If it's not because the ambush, he'll be the first rider in the modern era to win Vuelta/Tour double. He'll be back next year, I think he'll get the Vuelta/Tour double finally.

As for contador, this year was a so so year for him, no win, no podium in any GT he entered. His early season was the only highlights that we can smile on. Hopefully, next year he comes back swinging. (a reminder of 2014 season when he is really sucked at 2013).

it doesn't make sense.. De Jongh went to Trek. Who's contador trainer would be if he goes to Bora? Besides, working with Majka again?..

Let's not pretend the money of other teams is so clean, putting yourself in a socalled righteous position is typical for the left.

Money is money.

Bora lacks the budget and next year they'll have Specialized bikes. Astana on the other had are going to ride Argon 18 bikes in 2017...

It does fit with the rumor we've heard, that Contador contacted Astana. But I also read that Vino said no to him. So I'm not sure what to believe, I just wish he'd announce his team already, this speculation is driving me crazy

This thread should start to go into hibernation soon considering it's finally over with Tinkoff unless they force him to ride Lombardia like they did with the Vuelta.

Huh? Pretty sure it was his own choice to ride the Vuelta

If you say so but he wanted to end his season at the Olympics. Unable to ride them, he had to ride Vuelta. He wasn't in the conditions to ride the race, not in his state.

Contador and Nibali on one team is like a dream. But they wouldn't share leadership in a GT, unless it would be the Vuelta with them coming off Tour and Giro respectively. And they'd need good support for 2 GT's at least. Vuelta support wouldn't matter that much
