It's really not that amazing and newsworthy that Contador has been videoed spinning a high cadence while seated, climbing a very moderate gradient. But let's discuss it the next few pages anyway.

He's obviously completely changed the way he climbs. Did you notice he wasn't out of the saddle? And he was pedaling a higher cadence than usual? I can't believe it!

Well, such lengthy discussions about nothing must have been the norm in this thread, what with there being north of 2200 pages in it.

This thread is 50% panic 40% hype 10% weight speculation

Yes true. I mean obviously he trains various different ways. He's not ALWAYS going to be out of the saddle grinding a big gear. I have no idea why they're analysing a very normal 10 second training clip like it's massively important.

We are talking about contador, the best gt rider (and more exciting) of the last 20 years. 2200 pages is normal

It's not normal. The two best riders of the current decade (Sagan and Valverde if you were wondering) both have fewer than 200 pages in their threads.

Is any other rider above 513 pages?

Unfortunately neither has won, nor ever will win, the Tour. Whether we like it or not, this is the benchmark. Sagan is a one day racer with panache, Valverde is almost, but never really, realized. Unbeatable except where it truly counts.

So, it shows Contador is special beyond his wins, and he is unrivaled in the wins department as well.

50% of cycling fans only care about gt's (i'm not inclued), gt's have more visibility than classics and there contador has by far a better palmares than valverde or sagan. Contador is a legend for everybody, bala doesn't have half of the fans that contador has. And I think valverde is very talented but he doesn't a big palmares in gt's

Sagan above Contador and 2nd best rider of the current decade? What?
Contador, Cancellara, Boonen, Nibali, Froome, Gilbert and Valverde have much better palmares.

It's personal opinion of course. And it's not based on palmares. But this is not the place.
Didn't really seem like you were posting an opinion tbh!

I know. But I would assume that if one were to accumulate the CQ points of all riders since 2012, those two would be number 1 and 2 by quite a margin. The problem is that each can have his/her own criteria so we can never come to agree on such things. Personally, I value talent and versatility a lot (more so than palmares) and I don't care so much about accumulated numbers of Grand Tour victories (though, if Contador had won all his nine GTs in this decade, he would be number one on my list).

Pretty clear that Contador has the most vocal if not the biggest fanbase here. And vocal fanbases attract the opposite of fans as well. Therefor this thread has a large number of contributors, and I think that this thread has by far the most banter and running jokes and obsessions in this section.

Take a look at how this thread started. Back then there were appreciation and some depreciation threads which started in the 2011 Tour when Schleck and Contador pulled their stunts in the last week. This started a bit differently.

I also think that stage races and especially GT generate way more posts in threads like these than one-day races.

Also, Froome doesn't have the 2nd biggest rider thread, it's Nibali.

The "froome talk only" thread has more than 1000 pages :D

IYO, what should be Trek's Tour team? My opinion:

Leader
Contador

Mountain support
Pantano
Cardoso
Zubeldia

Allround support
Gogl
Felline

Flat support
Irizar
Brändle
Rast

If Degenkolb is willing to work for Berto if necessary, he can be on the team instead of Rast. But no domestiques assigned to him, please. Winning a stage was always going to be a long shot for him but he seems far off his best form.

Sadly, I think it will look like this:
Contador
Mollema
Pantano
Zubeldia/Cardoso
Felline
Degenkolb
De Kort
Brändle
Irizar/Gogl
