Contador, Landa and Quintana attack on Croix de Fer and link up with Pantano, Mollema and Betancur. Aru and Bardet leave all work to Froome who leads the group in valley and on Telegraphe-Galibier combo Froome cracks. Contador, Landa and Quintana go through the top together and Contador wins the stage. Aru and Bardet arrive 1:30-2:00 behind and Froome arrives at 3-4 minutes. 😎 😱

Well, probably won't happen but they have to try.

This!

And then AC takes more time on Izoard, before taking yellow in the time trial 😎

Great ride from Contador. If he can avoid falling for a fifth time, with an ITT incoming, top-5 is still possible. And he knows it.
Not sure. He and the team made it quite clear he's going for stages. One issue I see though is as he gets closer and closer to the top-5 he'll be allowed less room to take a stage.

Ever since I heard this speak I have been hoping that it is AC just being AC, and that it is merely a smokescreen to allow him to sneak up on the general classification 😀

Re: Re:

So take it to the Landa thread 🙂.

Today we celebrate that Alberto still has some life in those legs!
Jip, I am planning my trip to the Giro. It was a mere blip, he is back 🙂
I will just enjoy every Show he has left to give us without expectation. But I'm considering the Giro myself next year 🙂
A forum party on Mortirolo? 😀

I would love to see the Giro first hand myself, although alas, Italy is a long way away. But if Alberto confirms his GC aspirations there, then I'd at least look at the parcours and start dreaming 🙂
A forum party at the Giro sounds Awesome. I'd be coming from PA, USA so not right around the corner either!

Quite clear that he was affected by his crashes. No way would a healthy Alberto lose time to Nairo on that stage.
It is obvious that the crashes affected him. He lost 3 minutes to George Bennett that day. And he was beaten by Caruso on stage 12. (with all due respect to Bennett)

Or does Valv.Piti think that Contador would have got beaten by Bennett by 3minutes on stage 9 or by Caruso on stage 12 even without the crashes?

No chance after today since Landa is back to the dom roles (i.e. pulling any GC attack back)
We can still hope for rogue Landa
Since when do you like landa?
I am not really a fan but I dislike Froome much more.
Another member of the anybody but Froome camp .... Welcome

I wonder if he we will try something tomorrow

It looked like the peloton was on edge today; if this is the case there may be a chance for an ambush.

If he is to pull off a Landis, a stage like this probably gives him a better chance than a full-blown mountain stage.

I'd be satisfied if he causes panic in the peloton while avoiding time loss and moving up in the standings.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

I hope so. Monday is a rest day, so I think there will be a lot of action tomorrow. It's one of those days that people expect nothing to happen in the GC, but there can always be a surprise (I'm not talking specifically about AC here). I hope Contador's luck is improving along with his form. I'd like to see him finish in Paris with a descent result, maybe a stage win, and a smile on his face.
