3* tdf titles since you are trying to see this from Alberto's perspective.

And there is no reason to be surprised because he hasn't confirmed anything, just said the same thing he's been saying since the giro presentation.

Now it smells like a bigger certainty, considering that riders usually decide their participation in the 1st GT of the season in advance. He might think about Vuelta until mid-August and this would be OK. The Giro demands special racing calendar.

okay whatever, it won't happen but oh well you can believe whatever you want to.

At least after all these statements he should start in 2 GTs otherwise it will be another lies

no because he never said he'll ride two GTs. He said that IF he'll ride two GTs, it will be Giro-Tour.

I will interpet this situation differently. Don't worry. :p

I don't say the Giro-Tour double is impossible to achieve. But many many things should add up.

I agree with Airstream in this.It is more certain now.

Also I think Giro win is very likely.IMO he will lose about 1-1:30 in TT to Wiggins but will gain more than 2 minutes in mountains. And if he wants to win the Tour,he should keep some of the energy inside, play smart on Wiggo you know, becouse Froomey and Andy aare tough opponents.
Just do it Alberto I want to see some crazy racing, have fun:D

Considering Contadors age, targeting Giro-Tour now might be the best decision. If he really wants to win the Giro-Tour double in his career than he might as well do it sooner rather than later. If he waits to attempt it he could run into the problem of age and not be as good as he would have been if he had attempted it earlier.

Either way I think it's good that he is thinking of attempting it. Chapeau for just seriously considering it.

Considering his age it would be better to win another tdf or two instead of another giro.

I don't think that is good enough for him. He has the ultimate confidence in himself, is very intelligent tactically, and the heart of a warrior. He wants a place in history that may be untouchable in the future.
Go Alberto. If he thinks he can do it. I believe him.

If he just wants to find a lot of success and victories in his career, then yes definitely it would be better to just go for the Tour. But Contador seems to want to do more than just be a guy that won the Tour a bunch. So if he is going to try to win Giro-Tour, then sooner is better than later.

I listen the spanish audio and he told Giro-Tour is the most probably schedule for him.

This confirms something I heared a week ago and it's Tinkoff bank goals in Italy as a company, and send Alberto to do Il Giro fits this theory.

I agree.
He's a guy who's competing with great achievements in his mind.
And he's in position to place himself in history, next to Hinault, Merckx and, before all, his compatriot Indurain. Their achievements should be the measure of his ambitions.
This year is very good for Giro - Tour double. Next year there will be the Worlds on his home turf, and that might be a new challenge (we've already discussed when should he target the double).
I would be delighted to see him targeting the double against Wiggins. It should provide exceptional entertainment, and that's exactly what cycling needs after the Oprah - two most prominent riders of the present battling in biggest events of the sport.

would it really matter. Having three Tdf wins is not so much better than two. But the double would put him on a completely different level, in historical terms.

But 4 tdf 1 Giro 2 Vuelta > 2 Giro 3 Tour 2 Vuelta

Kinda sad that at the end of his career he will most likely have 7 GT wins at best. It looked so promising a few years back :(

 He already won Giro 2 times. will I ever get over this :(
I don't know if he will indeed do the Giro-Tour double this year or not. From what I heard he left it open and sort of up to the team. However Going for it this year would make it special since it gives him a chance, once again, to win 3 GT in less than a year. This , of course, is the alberto we love. Those who say "it w'ont be easy to win" should remember: Easy is not what that man is after.

There is still this view the average (narrow minded) sports fan would have. You know, that he is that guy who could only win le Tour on the juice. if I was contador, I would love to shut all critics more than anything else and win that freaking race. then again, Contador doesn't strike me as being a guy like that.

that kind of view wouldn't change even if AC does win it again. It would just be another meaningless Tour he won on the juice.

That would **** with the narrative that Evans and wiggins winning prove cycling is clean now. they'd have to change it to - cycling was clean for.2 years then became dirty again for a year then clean cos froome won the dirty before the final.clean era of geraint Thomas learning he can climb and winning 5 straight tours.

Or some such.
