It s difficult to believe that, with all due respect.
"This gives a relative power output of 6.78 w/kg".
Agreed. 7.2W/kg is peak Pantani outputIt s difficult to believe that, with all due respect.
Unless some rider has a vox2 max 98/99 or something, it s impossible to do that.Agreed. 7.2W/kg is peak Pantani output
Wasn't the beginning ridden not as hard? I don't remember fully and haven't had time to rewatch Lantern Rouges video. The surprising thing to me isn't the power output, it's the fact that this record was set on a shallower climb.
Nah the beginning was done super fast. Apart from a shallow cat 2 it was basically a unipuerto stage with some false flat kms, but the fact that it only had 10 dudes remaining after 3km of climbing shows you the speed on the bottom must have been insane.Wasn't the beginning ridden not as hard? It's also a shorter climb and an easy stage, Hautacam is about twice as long. The surprising thing to me isn't the power output, it's the fact that this record was set on a shallower climb.
What VAM was that again? It's also a shorter climb and an easy stage, Hautacam is about twice as long.
Robobasso on Monte-Bondone is the highest performance on a really long climb in the last 15 years.

A VAM of 1780 for 46min 15secWhat VAM was that again?
Anyway really long climbs don't get enough love these days.
But then he couldn't give the thumbs up to LanceNah the beginning was done super fast. Still, even considering that, it's by far the biggest VAM and W/kg outlier in the last 15 years, it might even be Schlecks best performance, so I don't really doubt there was also a significant tailwind too.
Also it's a pattern we've come to see quite often now where a unipuerto stage that's just completely drilled on the bottom of the climb gets insane gaps compared to big multimountain stages for some reason.
Still sad Contador didn't go loco on Mont Ventoux that year.
That performance on verbier wasn t that so good! That stage just had one mountain climb, and verbier is not that so hard.
Bradley wiggins just lost 1 min and 9 seconds to contador on that climb, and wiggins weren t a great climber. Quintana, froome or schleck had done better performances than that in their careers.
Remember ax 3 domaines 2013, froome climbed ax 3 domaines in 21 min and 40 seconds, contador climbed verbier in 20 min and 55 s. Froome just lost 45 seconds, with port pailheres before ax 3 domaines and, not forget ax 3 domaines is a little bit dificult.
Quintana this year had done a better performance than contador on verbier, on mont ventoux.
Comparing performance in similar climbs.Wait are we literally comparing time gaps on DIFFERENT CLIMBS?
Something tells me you don’t understand the concept of w/kg and why it’s relevant when talking about climbing performances....And if froome does 6.45 w/kg and contador does 6.77, froome is more fast in a climb because froome has more weight. Contador-62 kg×6.77 w/kg=420, froome weight 6.45×67kg=422 watts, more 12 watts.
