I have no idea what I think because I don't understand your question

Froome controlled the situation entirely? Was he able to follow Contador at once if there was no PortE?

Hi all I'm back from vacation...was totally out of touch with cycling for 16 days. Yikes just now I found out UCI meeting was in Bergen, Norway over the weekend; so was I! Had I known I'd have picketed carrying an NO MORE McQuaid sign outside their meeting.

Anyone want to give me the condensed version of the 800+ posts I missed?
How did Bertie look in Dauphine? Any signs of form?

Welcome back.
Contador at the Dauphine sucked hard in the TT, lost almost 3 minutes to Froome. But blamed it on allergies making it hard to breathe during the race. Didn't look too bad on Valmorel the next day, put in an attack near the end, but Froome rode away from him in the final. Next couple day he pretty much just did work for Rogers who had a better position on GC then him.

So in conclusion, he didn't look great. But he always said this was just a prep race for the Tour and he wasn't going too hard since he is focused on his main goal, the Tour. IMO, he will be ready to do battle in July.

Thanks....sounds dire, 3 minutes :( But he has never really done well in Dauphine if I recall correctly. Good move to work for Rogers and WT points for Saxo if he wasn't in the running for the win.

At some point during the Tour Froome will fold under the Spanish onslaught of Berto, Purito and Valverde :)

Oh boy Talansky, what have you done?

You'll be hated on for all eternity by a girl named Fleur ;)

The man might be right though, i'm still hoping for that giro form, then many things are possible.

Guess Talansky didn't watch the Vuelta ? Yeah, Froome was tired, etc...arguably it was fairly level between a guy who hadn't competed for a year and a guy competing since the beginning of June.

Watch these guys change tack in a hurry (like Brailsford) if Froome messes up in the TDF and honestly it's going to easier to mess up and then to win as if it were a walk in the park...He's really got everything to lose in the coming weeks and unlike what he did for Wiggins last year (well at meast most of the time) he's often going to be alone and then experience will play a big part and he has none to speak of.

I wonder how Talansky knows that considering he hardly ever raced with Contador and i highly doubt Contador ever showed "his numbers"

Me: "Physically, Quintana has nothing to worry about from Talansky. Quintana's just better." #TDF

ME: "He [Talansky] knows he can't beat Quintana in a straight up drag race." #TDF

See i can also come up with cool stuff without any knowledge to back up my claims.

I wonder if Talansky would be ****ed off if that was tweeted at him.

maybe also a "Talansky never had the class to keep up with Quintana and that will never change" added there just to rustle his jimmies a bit more

I don't see how this is a bad thing, let them all say Contador can't do it, let's have no respect for the man. His motivation will be even bigger, i think Contador's pride is a bit hurt by all these comments.

If he pulls it out off the satisfaction will be way bigger and if not well it was expected.

Btw we all know Talansky is sucking Froome's D to get a stage win ;)

)

I agree, I think Contador will feed off of this negativity and use it as fuel, come Tour de France.

Exactly, Talansky is doing a service to Contador. Talk him down and that makes him want to prove everyone wrong even more.

The more stuff like this we get, the more likely we may be to getting a replay of Fuenta De, times 1,000. :D

I think Froome's overconfidence might be his weakness at the Tour. I hope for something like this happening at the Tour:
Contador attacks, Froome is confident in his ability and wheelsucks Porte for about 15-30 seconds more, then he decides to go chase (like he did in Tirreno / Dauphine). But there is one big difference now, he isn't closing the gap :D

Let's put those cut out pieces of Talansky's interview a bit in perspective:

"Talansky also watched as Alberto Contador (Saxo-Tinkoff) could do little to rattle Froome and Team Sky. Although Contador said he was suffering from allergies and later rode to support teammate’s Michael Rogers’ failed bid for the podium, Contador seemed a step off Froome’s form.

“[Contador] rode a smart race. He knows he cannot beat Froome in a straight up drag race. He cannot just ride harder and harder and drop those guys. He has to attack. That’s what he tried to do at the Dauphiné,” Talansky said. “I would say that Contador is Froome’s most dangerous rival. We saw him in last year’s Vuelta. He can make intelligent tactical decisions on the fly that can win an entire race. Physically, Froome has nothing to worry about from Contador.”"

Talansky partially confirmed my words that you ridiculed, boys and girls. :)

ood for you, but Talansky confirming something doesn't make it a fact. Plus, he implies another important thing: "Producing good numbers" like Froome likes to say isn't everything. Tactical skill and later on in the race sheer will and determination are important factors. A race has to be raced

Edit: And yes, Oleg is a beast :D
