Riding into form for the 3rd week?
2nd is within grab considering C. Vroome is riding like an alien up the mountain. A rider speeding up on a climb without standing is scary to see....

Contador should take a look at what went wrong in this year's preparation (none of us are experts on this, of course). He wasn't particularly competitive in the earlier season races, but we have seen him winning such events in previous years.

Contador is still looking better than most of the alleged GC "contenders", but isn't a world-beater any longer. Whatever happened to his form, I don't know, but he is still below his winning 2012 Vuelta form (which itself didn't quite match his amazing form from previous years).

Nice effort trying to follow Froomebot. But if he didn't he would've won a lot more time on the rest than he did in the end.

True, but he isn't that kind of guy. Next time maybe he'll just take it at his own pace which would have garnered him time on everyone else instead of trying to stay with the Borg :(

I thought AC was playing it smart and that he learned his lesson from last week but he didn't. At first instance I thought he just let froome go without even trying to go super deep but i guess he did.

He should have never even tried following Porte and Froome. I respect him for doing it though, he only cares about the win.

He'll eventually be 2nd in GC though, that's obvious.

I'm glad saxo doesn't give up yet, don't get me wrong i give them 0.01% chance but at least they're gonna try and make it exciting for us.

Evans would be proud of what Contador did today

Contador isn't as bad as Evans but when the man drops he usually drops hard.

Shows you that he really gives it all.

I hope he attacks on the madeleine :D

Carol :( :( I am so sad... Berto's time seems over...

Don't get me going LaFlo :(

I give him until the end of the year to show something....if he doesn't race again this year let's see how he looks early next year.

Today he actually was holding his form pretty well until late in the stage; then he fell apart. 2nd will never make him happy. But even as a shell of his former self he could still take 2nd on Pure Class.

Its the second time in this years tour that he goes so far into the red that ends the climb completely cooked. Not even Evans was dumb enough do it a second time on the Aubisque after doing it on PdB.

Contador could be comfortably in second place by now if he accepted the fact that he can't keep up with Froome.

Yep and 2nd is meaningless to him. That is how all Great Champions think!

After the stage it's easy to be smart, but when you are there, and you know, that it's not an option to lose any time. And on the other hand, you really expected what you have seen today? I mean, have you seen it? I never seen something like that before, and I'm sure Contador neither. It's just not human.

Alberto did well today... I think that He showed some improvement and that the form is coming but He went too deep in the red zone trying to follow Froome :(

I can't help but think I should stop following Alberto. Ever since I started following him really closely (2010) he has been underperforming on every stage or race I watched bar etna.

And this morning I was torn-what should I do? Watch the paris stage and ceremony or not? I want to see Alberto on the podium, but seeing Froome on the top step would be unbearable for me. And then I got feeling Alberto was gonna win: he'd follow Froome on this stage and break him in the coming stages. I would actually see Alberto ride into paris in yellow for the first time, I'd see him cross the finish line with his arms in the air for the first time, I'd see him on the podium for the first time. And now I'm torn again :(

the destiny has spoken: "I'm survivor.. I'm survivoooorrrrr.. I'm (not) gonnaa makeee iiiiiiit" :p

today's proof: contador didn't have the form to even keep his lost. It's either banking on 3rd week was a bad plan or he is never achieve the same form. Or maybe this "is" what his 'old form', it's just over shine by froome's form. Also, the fact that contador's interview never shows any sign of his talk about his sensation, it kinda already say it all.

hat's off for mollema for hanging there. I guess, eating mollema as contador's breakfast will have to wait until another mountain :D:D

btw, it was a nice interview on tele from nicholas roche... Boy, the server is down again. CN must have exploded again .. LOL.. Don't CN learn to add bandwith capacity with so many hits at the same time??

on the side note: isn't that the winner of tdf always win stage? Froome has won 2 stages. Based on superstitious, he is most likely if not for sure the winner of 2013 TDF.

still 3rd week... tbd. Saxo boys looks strong. even krueziger looked really good.

It will be painful LaFlo, but if you love Cycling stick with it. I know Alberto brought you to cycling but it is and always will be a great sport with or without Berto.

I will watch no matter who is on the steps because I've loved cycling for decades before Berto came along. Watching Wiggo last year wasn't pleasant and watching Froome Dawg will be much worse :(

But Cycling Lives on, they are only players on the stage for their allotted time, then the next crop takes over, it is the way of sport.

Berto will be up there and he will smile and be gracious because he is a great, classy, gentleman. There might even be 2 Saxos up there!

When his time is past you will find another favorite to root for :)

at the end, quintana allies with froome was contador's nightmare. Next week, contador will be busy to fend off quintana's charge. And froome looks like will have another strong ally from movistar.

How come Froome worse Carol, because he is more dominant or just have not took to him as I would have thought you liking attacking riders you would have enjoyed CF more than BW.

Yes this is a very good post atlest he tried today he just don't have the legs, what I don't get is how he does not put his nose into the wind? Why did he just stay on Nieve today? Has the Kreu thing annoyed you I thought it was silly bringing Mollema back with him he should have followed the Belkin guys in, I may be getting deceived but AC did not look happy looking back a few ties to see who was in RK group.
