:-D Has this guy ever even won any one-day-race? Seriously, I’d love to know.

I agree. A one-day race in the real mountains would really add something to the international calemdar...

He was 3rd at Fleche Wallonne I think. When he is in super form he can win Lombardia or Fleche. Maybe even LBL. But he needs to be in great form. Like this spring.

I just can't see Alberto winning a one day race other than Lombardia/Milano-Torino. He's one of the worst sprinters of the peloton and until now, with few exceptions, didn't seem to handle short climbs good enough to be able to contend forthe win.

It would require a very hard route for the World Championships for him to finish alone or at least come down to a sprint with guys like Nibali, Kreuziger or good old Andy Schleck in order to win.

Alejandro is the leader, he’s a great rider, and we have to support him to the full. He needs riders he feels fully confident about, riders from his trade team.

And that’s exactly why I’m ruling out the Worlds because we have to be realistic: I’m a Grand Tour racer.

I think it is more the case that Bala said he 'didn't trust' him. Well if he doesn't trust me then fill the team with guys he does. Like guys from his trade team; plenty of Spaniards there :)

But whatever we surmise is pure speculation!!!!

EDIT: Whoever rides Spain will most likely muck it up and lose anyway !

Actually, the top photo of the knee looks very bad to me and the lower photo, taken later, looks good but not good enough to think that the owner of that leg would be winning a 3 week GT at this point in time? Wow.

Oh dear what on earth happened? Froome is the only rider he really needs to control yet he reacts to others but not to Froome and promptly loses 16 seconds?

I am amazed
. Today there was only one opponent to control and let him go without a response. probably he is "missing his legs" because I can not find any other explanation. But this*trick costs him 18s and still lacks Ancares.

be careful Alberto !:p

Totally ****ed it up, but I believe his major objective for the day was to punish Valv & Purito for not taking Froome out when they could. He answered immediately to Purtio's moves 2 times, but didn't go after Aru and Froome? Seems to me like a big Spanish soap opera-like feud between the 3 matadores :D

That was absolute nonsense.

Why did he even go after Barguil ?
He just lost the seconds he gained Monday. Brilliant.

If he was really willing to give up 18 seconds to his nemesis today to punish Valverde and Purito for refusing to slave as his domestiques the other day....hm
