“The attack wasn't really planned. The plan was to get through the stage without losing time. Actually, I was uncertain when the steep slope was coming but I have moved a bit to find a good position and then I saw that the second climb was the harder one. It was a pity to attack on the first climb and maybe I should have waited. However, this was a transition stage and now we have to enjoy the day off. We'll be back the day after tomorrow.
Alberto believes bonus seconds may play an important role in the race:
