Once thus race is over its 5 weeks of intervals and Altitude training and weight loss for Contador. At the Giro he will play with Porte.

Meh, doubt Porte can keep it up for the whole Giro (and still have some left for the Tour). He has been on fire since January.

And that's assuming contador isn't gonna improve. Against this contador he can barely hold on

People need to stop preteding porte was terrible last year, he wasn't so bad in the tour, at least the first week when he was almost up there with nibali and contador.

Exactly! They were more or less evenly matched today. Contador will only get even stronger

You guys know what Contador does when he's good but realises he can't win.

That happened, he tried to win, Porte only tried to beat Contador

Well said guys! Sheesh, I'm not panicking for once but looking at some comments on twitter the world might have ended

Still dont think Porte have it for the GT's, when there are 3 days in a row with big climbs. Contador is gonna beat him 1vs1, but Porte will have a super strong team.

Porte is over the top since January, he's not holding this form much longer . he'll completely blow up at the Giro, he isn't even a threat if that's what he is able to do against an average AC. Aru will be the main rival.

I agree. Uran and Porte will battle for the 3rd podium spot I think and I'm inclined to give Uran the advantage.

Come on, Porte did not peak for Willunga  Porte says he still has improvement in him before the Giro, but of course Contador will improve a lot. Still can't see Porte winning the giro as he will have his usual bad day, however when on a good day he won't be far off. The tougher he makes it for Contador in May, the easier it is for Froome, Quintana and co in July.

Only problem I see for Contador at the Giro is lack of team.
Tinkoff has been bad thus far and with all that's happening I have to imagine it could get worse.
Of course if Berto is in top shape he's gonna win it, no matter how weak the team is.

Aru has yet to show anything this season. He was terrible today.

What has porte won? What has contador won in his career?

Why is contador so good in GT's? Why is Porte not the same guy in GT's?

Eh, looking back at the footage, Porte tried and couldn't follow chubby Alberto on the acceleration.

The difference at the Giro is that he'll not see him back .

One rider made a big attack and gained zero seconds on Kelderman and Martin, while the other paced himself correctly and used his team wisely to gain time.

You say he paced himself but that is wrong as it is obvious he tried to follow Contador.

At the Giro Alberto won't run out of gas.

lol at bots getting excited over Porte beating Contador on this pointless hill. In the giro it will be buisness as usual.

That's one point that Alberto probably will sustain his attack a little longer, but also the climbs will be a very big difference. Porte, Martin, Kelderman etc have time to recover on theese type of climbs, where's Contador isn't very strong at all on the 4-5 % parts. Contador is a level or two above all these guys when the climbs are 7-12 % for like +3-4k.

Just because he tried to follow at first, doesn't mean that he didn't pace himself correctly.

When you say he paced himself correctly, that sounds as though he chose not to follow the attack like we've seen Froome do on several occasions.

The only question is - who's next Sky's domestique who'll saddle Contador up?

Wait, who's getting saddled up?
