Although ultimately unsuccessful, Rodriguez said that Contador's multiple charges had had him ‘on the rivet' and on hearing that Contador was on a bad day, instantly responded that "heaven help us when he's on a good one, then!"

Awesome:D:D

Very strange saying these things in public. Although it looks as if he is not invincible.

My thought exactly! If I was on the rivet I certainly wouldn't advertise it to my foe right before a big mountain day knowing he has said he will attack relentlessly. Makes No Sense! Just saying....

Maybe he feels strong and is hoping Alberto will blow himself up trying thinking he is weaker than he looks?

I am almost sure so. This is just a response to Alberto saying he had "a bad day" yesterday. The psychological warfare is on!

absolutely, 1 minute on the time trial alone purito won like 30 seconds overall on the road, if that many.

got you. We know AC is going to focus on tour next year, wondering what will JR's program look like? Since he may win this Vuelta, that will be a huge confidence boost for him maybe he will focus on Tour as well. And wondering who will be Nibali's opponents in the Giro.

No that's not fair - Rodriquez leads by merit

I can't accept that reasoning. The bonus is given for winning and not pacing. Although only third today, JR *raced* up that final climb and did not just hang on to the wheel as AC did to AS in the TDF. He's done that every time.

Full marks to the other riders. I just hope they are all squeaky clean.

alberto is getting stronger and stronger, that's obvious

i think he will use his better recovery and on fuente de(yes you've heard that right),saxo will go full-gas on the climb destroying everybody and alberto will test again purito.

purito is unbelievable strong but i think he hadn't won yet la vuelta...on bola del mundo...something might change

anyway,helluva battle!

None of these riders would have made top 10 in this years tour. The field in this Vuelta is horrible. The only 2 legitimate GC riders that were not beaten up by this years TDF that targeted and trained for the Vuelta were Rodriguez and AC. When Valverde can keep up with you on every climb you know you are not very good. AC should have won this Vuelta by 10 minutes. If he shows up like this for the Tour next year he will not be top 10. But then again maybe that is what happens to a rider when he knows if he gets caught cheating again its a lifetime ban. He is just another version of Basso trying to cash in while he can on old results. Ac should really consider skipping the Tour next year and just focus on the Vuelta as the Tour simply may be to tough for him.

This field = the best field of any of the GTs this year. LOL.

Rodriguez + Contador + Valverde >>>>>>> Wiggins + Froome + Nibali >>>>>>>>>>>> Hesjedal + Rodriguez + de Gendt

give some comfort to your fragile heart:p

It doesn't really help :( it only makes me sadder :( That's why I said I hope he cracks on Bola so that Purito at least doesn't win on bonus seconds alone

Alberto is never going to win a GT again. There I said it. He doesn't have it anymore.

Lol, chill out. It's obvious this route favors Jrod plus Contador came of a one year ban basically(from the Tour in 2011 till Vuelta this year).

Next year he'll be back and Jrod will be less.
