What is Contador trying to do next year?

Asking for Basso and Rujano.

He may have ambitions of doing the Tour-Giro double or else, he wants to crush everybody at the Tour by 10Min+ and make Froome cry and quit.

Maybe he is annoyed by wiggins comments on how there hasn't been a GT winner he could believe was clean until Evans, and wants to take on Wiggo in a GT he's trying to win, and make him cry :D.

Yeah I have the same feeling. What is this all about?
Basso,Rujano,Kreuziger,Roche,Zaugg,Majka,Hernandez,Sorensen are very good climbers. Its really weird, maybe it is Giro-Tour double,so half of these climbers should do giro with Alberto and the other half should do Tour with Alberto too:confused:

Maybe you should stop seeing it all from a Bertie perspective ;) I think Saxo simply wants to add some depth in their roster thus signing riders that are good for some wins.

Or maybe they will all do the Tour and dominate team Sky style

Maybe, but I dont think so cos for the Tour team roulers are missing someone like Morkov,Tossato and of course Noval:D

Or instead of a Giro-Tour double, it's for a Tour-Vuelta double ;)

He doesn't need a team to win the Vuelta;)

It may be a reason, but reportedly Bruseghin, Basso and Rujano are all targeted due to demands from Bertie.

signings like Breschel, Kolobnev and Zaugg are for the classics but the GC riders will have to work for Bertie in the GTs and even in other stage races he mostly rides to win.

Contador needs a cool head to give him some advice here.

Next year there is no point to doing the Giro. Winning the Tour next year is the most important thing in Contadors life. Doesnt matter if he wins nothing else ever again, he has to win next years tour.

But

Aquarone has shown all his cards and shown himself to be weak.. He is begging the well known riders to do the Giro. He is willing to play to their strenghts.

So, for 2014 Contador can make a phonecall.

Michael,

The 2014 Giro is going to have 3 mountain top finishes, have a steep 1 if you want but make the other 2 easy, more 6-8% style.

* It is going to have 7 or more sprint stages so i can rest a lot.

* It is going to have a prologue, cos that aint that much effort, and the long tt is going to be the usual 30 or so k on the last day - so that if i need the tt i can take the jersey there, but if ive already won the race i can doss about.

* If you want another tt make it mountain, kronplatz if you want to sell the fans that this giro has legendary mountains.

Some hill stages are fine too, wont lose too much time there.

Do that, and you have Alberto Contador at the Giro next year, "fighting for pink" in the "greatest race in worlds most beatiful place".

From what we have seen from Aquarone, he would be unlikely to refuse.

Sure, but I'd like to see him crush Wiggo at the Giro too.
He may not get a chance to meet Wiggo at a GT again.

@Hitch
Nice analysis,I agree. Its obvious that 2014 is the year for Triple;)
I think next year he can do Giro-Tour double, but it would be too risky for him so he will ride Tour for ''certain''win:D

If Contador really does that i think not a lot of people would refuse it.

He's like you always call him 'the great one'. If he rides in a race the threads here are always longer, the views are higher on tv and i think he's pretty popular in Italy.

Oh yeah almost forgot: he brings spectacle and he's just the best in the world.

Damn almost forgot the biggest argument for the italian people: He's the closest thing to Pantani. Maybe the only real climber left

You would be almost crazy to refuse.

What, he gets all peaked up, breaks his mountain record, flies into Napoli in form, and then wiggins announces hes got a niggle in his toe and will wait for the tdf afterall.

Man would Contador be Wiggins' biatch.

I think you may have misread that post from Asian. I certainly don't think he/she sees Bertie being anyone's biatch any time soon ;)

I made this for the people who want to see Contador make Wiggo cry, just in case it doesn't actually happen (which is unlikely if they ever do go head to head) :D.

I was thinking about the same (no-not about the Giro-Tour double), that next years Saxo will be super strong. Not only in GTs, to help Contador, but Kreuziger, Roche, Zaugg, Majka, Hernandez, CAS, and Basso and Rujano if they come could win or at least be in the top3-5 in many races. Which is really good for the team.

Just back from my 2 week journey through northern Spain :) Great country!!!

Amazing how easily you can find friendly people to talk to by saying 'I love Contador' In Bilboa Sanchez or Anton worked very well also :)

Are there any vids of Alberto's win in Milano-Torino? Sure would like to see that finish!

Yes for real. Everyone, everywhere knew Alberto and were proud of him and happy to talk cycling.

Many found it shocking that an American knew their stars (I was even using names like Nieve just to show I knew more than the top guys) and many asked me what I thought of the Lance decision. My response 'justice has finally been achieved' was popular but totally unexpected from an American.

Thanks for the vid Flo :)
