I was watching footage of the 2007 Tour when I found this. Alberto must have noticed it, considering what happened in this year's Vuelta :D

I know, I just thought the image was funny/interesting. Did not mean to imply anything that would be considered inappropriate in this part of the forum.
Cheers for warning me though :)

How do you think the Saxo Train will perform at the Tour this year? How will it compare to Sky and other teams?

Also been wondering what sort of formation it will take I.e. who will drop off as they climb. I'm guessing Roche might be the last man standing with Alberto but Kreuziger will be up there as well. Rodgers will also.

Can they have as many men left on climbs as Sky?

Right now we're all assuming that it will be a battle of trains, Saxo vs Sky. I doubt Contador will want that kind of racing; he will probably prefer a very agressive pace on the first km so that he can attack after. A bit like Verbier style. It remains to be seen if that's enough to destroy the Sky train and to make Froome/Wiggins/another-random-Sky-GC-rider break.

Sky has to prove themselves in stopping Contador, not the other way around.

Besides Contador never needed a train. If he's at his normal level, he can win with a pretty weak team, eg. Giro 2011.

That's a nice way to put the question. But I agree, he doesn't need the train; at most, he just needs someone to put a very hard pace at the start of the climb.

1 Year out. Not at his best in the Vuelta. Froome looking like he could have climbed the Tour on an elephant. I wouldn't be so sure.

I raise you, 1 year out, killed Sky/Froome at the Vuelta. Far stronger team than he has ever had. No contest. If you had mentioned the Alpes the Elephant thing might have been funny.

Your account name says enough

And Froome was the best climber in the tour but to say he was so superior is ridiculous. You can say that about Contador in the giro 2011 though

Besides, don't you contradict yourself by saying Contador was 1 year out?

And where was Froome in the vuelta? Oh yeah he rode the tour with super ease but at the vuelta he was burned out right? :D

If your dropping everyone on the climbs (even if the climbs were lacking) and place 2nd in the Tour, your not riding it with "super ease."

If Contador had done the tour and olympics and then come 4th in the vuelta you would have said he was fatigued. So why doesnt this apply to Froome? In his alien form he clearly should not be losing 10 minutes to valverde. Its pretty clear the Tour ****ed him and respect for finishing the vuelta and fighting for that 4th place.

1 hopes Contador will still have it, but Froome is clearly a major threat especially since we dont know just how good he will be. Fortunately Contador realizes this and clearly thinks Froome is his main rival.

There's no question that Froome is the major threat for Contador, I would even say the only real threat.

And what Froome did at the vuelta was good but then again if you compare it what Contador still could do in the tour after that giro, it's way more impressive.

Froome's performance in the vuelta showed us how great it actually was what Contador did in the tour of 2011.

And i don't see why we won't see the Contador of 2011 again? He already got busted then so what's stopping him?

Contador has dealt with Froome. He has his measure. The only guy he will be scared of come Tour time is Andy

So he will fear a guy that recently admitted he is fearful of riding in the peloton again ? I don't think anyone fears Schleck. They sometimes admire him like on the Galibier in 2011 but Schleck has too many of his own fears.
