Yea, it's not like Alberto is one of the most talented cyclists ever so it's absolutely normal forr him to get beaten by half of team sky, Santambrogio, Kwiatkowski and Papy Horner

Horner is smart enough not to try and break away into a headwind.

So? I think I'm missing the point. Are you saying Alberto's stupid?

On Etna he attacked into a headwind.

Not stupid but should have waited longer. I don't think the result would have been any different.

"Stupid" is not the right word, but "reckless" maybe, or "bold" if you're being more generous.

Froome would have won, but the chase group (Nibali + Contador et al) would have lost max 5s (ex bonus secs).

Dull racing here we come.....

So what's the point then  why should he wait longer when the result will be exactly the same

Seriously though what does it matter? What's the difference.between losing by 3 minutes or by 10 when only winning counts?

Yeah, but if he's doing this in the Tour I will definately call it stupid:eek:

Why? It's the only way he could possibly beat Froome. Waiting until the last km isn't gonna help him with the amount of time he's going to lose in the tts

I thought he attacked the first time because he saw Rodriguez' group closing but he attacked for the bonus points which was smart. But when he attacked again Sky closed the gap without much trouble and he had trouble holding Nibali's wheel. He was stuggling. I thought Sky controlled it pretty well. Contador is Contador he seems to attack whether he is feeling good or not. What I meant was maybe he could have gone for the stage win and saved his energy but Froome was too good on the day anyway

its a stage race, there will be another day to battle.

Lose too much on one stage, and its game over particularly with uber strong teams in the peloton.

Anybody else notice Contador's lack of dancing on the pedals?
He's style of pedaling was as everbody else's.

He didn't look smooth to me (attacking) at all.

I hope he is just testing Sky and himself, because this doesn't look good at all.

When he attacked i saw it looked bad. It reminded me of his vuelta's attacks.

His Vuelta attacks were better though, I think he shouldn't bother to win this race now. Next year he'd better show up with some better form. San Luis was a bad sign already.

No he'll try and win it cause he's Contador.

You mean we're gonna see a very desperate Alberto today, in the end dropped like a stone in Chieti after attacking Sky on Lanciano? And people say Andy will never change...Contador is a man of habits as well, he doesn't know better than to attack-attack-attack, but it won't win him races anymore.

So disrespectful...

Contador never showed tactic? Fuente de?

You do realise Contador chained down andy on the tourmalet?

Contador almost won in Oman cause of it. Froome was just a tiny bit faster than Contador.

In my opinion he is toying in these races, looking who can do what and doesn't give his current 100% in a way to deceive the competition for when it will count. I've seen these many times with other cyclists and even other sports. I do understand he is not even close to top form in reality but he is definitely underperforming on purpose to me.

Contador was defending the whole 2008 giro and almost the entire 2010 Tour so he can be desensive if it brings some value. Other thing is Sky decided to organize a win starvation for him, so it enrages Contador.

The Vuelta can't compare to the Tirreno, honestly. Come on, Katusha was a joke there, and it was the Vuelta after 2 weeks of racing. Sky is close to full strength here, Froome, Uran, Henao, they'll simply keep ranks when Alberto attacks, reeling him in slowly but surely.

Hey, I'm not liking it either, but it's reality now. :( When has he ever beaten the Sky train? Never in my memory.

When has he ever riden against the sky train? Yesterday and that's it...

If one guy can break this train it's Contador.

And maybe Andy. God I hope Andy gets back in shape, if contador and andy works together then maybe.

This is what sky made me do. I'm cheering for Andy now............

In Oman Contador isolated Froome from 4 k to go. He had 4 k to destroy him.
