Uhm, Contador finished 13th and Froome 19th.

And Contador didn't look in much trouble to me.

La Flo don't you think they both looked a little ragged. Im not sure they both looked a little under pressure to me anyway.

No way they both put eachother in trouble it was wierd im hugely biast towards Froome but Contador if anything looked to put him in trouble(i do think this stage suits Contador more), but then TJVG got straight away on CF wheel and AC was struggling a little bit. Very interesting stage.

I thought Contador waited for someone else to close the gap. He was right on Nibali's wheel when he bridged to Froome.

AC didn't look the least in trouble to me in that moment. And probably everyone were struggling a bit on the steepest part when AC put a little pressure on.
All in all I don't think we learned anything new today with regards to the favourites.

I thought AC seemed ok. The team was a bit "meh" though, they should've taken zaugg imo instead of all these rouleurs.

Yet again Froome finishing ahead of Contador. Really seemed to put him into trouble at the top of the climb, too. Last year's Contador probably would've lost 20 seconds there.

Wrong on the first account (AC 13th, Froome 19th), and I beg to differ on the second.

Don't think either Froome or Contador looked in too much trouble, it's all games at this time until we get to the mountains. Losing 2 seconds isn't ideal for either however I believe both will leave Nibali behind when we get to the serious climbs.

Contador was pretty good today. Nibali al lot better than expected and Froome a bit less than expected (his attack was quite cliché and he didn't seem able to work together with Costa). Problem for Contador will probably the team. Only Roche was able to stay with him and did a good job at the beginning of the last climb, but in the end he was alone, whereas Froome and Nibali had teammates in the first group.

AC testing the legs nicely and calm- He surely looks good & ready to put the hurt later on in the race:)

Nobody was going to chance it today this early on. The muted attacks from Contador & Froome were about positioning on the climb and being at the front for the decent.

With a strong headwind nobody was going to win from the top of climb down. Nibali did it well considering the conditions. Went with 1.7km to go.

Also no team was going to hold it together today. That's a classics stage and every team say bar Astana lost a load of riders.

I say it this way, none of the big favourites convinced me today, except from Nibali, if there was a headwind in the finale.

Contador looked like the 2011 version, breathing hard.

I hope the images fooled me.
Same with Froome by the way.

Maybe some people here watching different race. Contador looking very strong with no panic at all.

He didn't look all that strong to me, he was grimacing a fair bit, but I believe we have to wait till the real mountains to see what his form is like.

To be fair for anyone, after a 1km climb full throttle like this, nobody is gonna be comfortable, but if you're still there, you're never gonna get in trouble on the flat part

That was a steep climb! You expect riders to grimace no matter who they are. You can't be piano tranquillo on a climb like that!

well contador looks to me like in a sunday strolling mode during the climb. but close to the top when froome attacked, he seemed to let other people close the gap. I agree with some of the posters here, the team are a little worrying to me. They aren't even close to last year strength. I hope it's just for today, no need to full throttle yet. Maybe Beltran or CAS would be better than majka?
