According to VDB2 it's Contador's own fault for crashing. He was sprinting for a position and crashed really REALLY hard.

VDB should shut up. Rubbing salt in the wound. He hit a hole in the road. **** happens.

I personally think he'll never get another chance like this to win the tour. Today is a sad day for us Contador fans, but realistically I think his career will not have another tour victory. Cruel luck took him down.

Maybe another Giro or Vuelta win in him, but not another tour I think..

How old is he ?

:(

Nibali got 15s on Pinot in 3km... clap clap, amazing performance.

He gets the GC triple crown handed to him. Blegh.

Stop being so bitter ffs...I'm disappointed too but Nibbles did what he needed to do...give credit where it's due, he's a great cyclist and out of anyone left I'm glad he's going to win

Two years older than Froome. He's not exactly ready for the retirement home.

I didn't like Nibali before today, and like him even less now. :) I am just very disappointed to see that Contador could have beaten him today.

I think so too, he's 31. Don't forget Froome and Quintana will both ride the Tour next year. I feel like he'll be riding for 3rd place. Hope he decides to go for the Giro.

It may look like that now but who would have thought two months ago that Nibali would have been in the position he is today

Nibali was in bad form. Contador will have his age against him. It's not looking good.

Got to feel sorry for Contador. I can't believe my betting luck the last week as well: I needed Froome to win Tour for the last leg of an eight leg accumulator for £13,000, and had Contador as my backup for £1300. Gutted to say the least.

Hope it is not too bad an injury for both of them at least. :(

Can't stay at the top forever unfortunately. And he's been at the top for 8 years now.

Contador can still win another Tour (Nibali winning it this year, for instance, was a very long shot. **** happens) but he will never be as likely to win one as he was before today.

Some people have no fate in Contador at all....and ye call yourselves fans? He'll be 32 for next years Tours, can easily challenge for the TDF or whatever GT's he goes for...enough of this nonsense ffs

Yea, strange people's reaction to his age. Froome, Nibali both 29. Not "young" themselves. That said, I think Froome is still the best GT rider today.

I agree. Froome will be difficult to overcome.
