Post Tour Alberto still leads the World Tour. If that isn't a testament to the kind of season he was having I don't know what is! 2 GTs down where he didn't score a single point and he is still ahead. It won't be long until he is overtaken considering he is home on the sofa healing but I think he might have been number 1 on the year without the accident :(.

he still leads the world tour:mad::mad:

nooooo... I don't want contador won the world. the curse of rainbow jersey isn't worthed. Winning the world, just make you look good on a nice white jersey. But not your luck. Look at costa, he is no where than second or less. I want contador to win TDF or whatever GT he plans to participate. When he doesn't go to TDF, he can try to win the rainbow jersey.:D
Interesting. I prefer to see him win Worlds and next season win almost nothing;)

Either way, I hope he recovers well. Not sure how I feel about his participation in Vuelta. If he can't be competitive, I don't want to see him got blown up by Quintana and Froome like last year TDF. Watching Nibali accelerate leisurely and make the rest of the field (weak field) gasping for air is already made me cringe.

Yeah. At least this farce of a Tour is over. And i would no doubt prefer a fit AC next season before a rushed comeback being either dropped or (whats worse) abandoned due to the wound which only makes it worse. Its best thinking of the bigger picture although it sucks.

Do you think he is going to Vuelta to hunt for stage win and king of the mountains if he isn't in tip top shape? Imagine .. Contador in break away :D

I think he will give it a try with guarantees that the wound is not giving him any trouble. This route is not that mountainous and it could be possible to ride in some sort of order. If the legs are responding well i dont think he had lost that much (its not like 2012 here) and then there is always the Fuente De-option.

But thats a Big If.

According to Nibali he Wiggins and Froome are face of TDF. So fnny really Contador is still top WT rankings with no GT completed, so how is he done?. Not that Nibali said that he is, just suprised he never mentioned the one guy who made him suffer in the TDF

I assume he only mentioned them because together they are the last 3 winners of the race.

Well, Nibali says many "intresting" things but in that particular case it was clinic-related. He defended the Sky program, marginal gains and such by stating himself, Wiggins and Froome was the (new) faces of clean cycling.

It didnt have anything to do with the competition.

MAybe it's the translation, but I think he is getting more than a bit irritated/offended that reporters keep questioning HIM on how he would have fared if Contador/Froome stayed in the race. I'm not going to get offended/irritated by anything he says in defense of his well deserved Tour victory. He was the best overall rider to finish the Tour. Let it end there.

What a race it would have been though if Roman had been there :(

Which means (IMO) that Contador won't ride. Good news.

That doesn't mean anything. Of course kreuziger will ride the vuelta if he can. He hasn't riden a GT this year, Contador possibly being there doesn't change anything.

Ofc it does. You should know that.

Explain then. The only thing that it changes is that saxo won't pressure Contador that hard to ride the vuelta but as stated by de jongh Contador really wants to ride it.

Hopefully that means I can watch Alberto ride around my local roads at the Tour of Britain.

any tough mountain to make the difference? if not why bother. Bertie isn't going to win with ITT only and some lumpy stage.

Anyone has any opinion about Roche? Sky is in hot pursuit for Roche. If sky thinks highly about Roche, that means his number is high. And he got a potential. (sky has a history of making no name rider to suddenly a super domestique or a star). Do you think Roche will leave Alberto? Or he stays? Out of Roman, Nico and Rogers, Nico is the one that seems to be wanting a leadership at GT?
