In other words: he's just not good enough to make the team. Which is a loss for Alberto, though. Not too much climbers in the team already.

Not good enough? They're lining up their C-team, surely Jesus should be able to make that.

It was taken today.

Btw my believe and it's been pretty much confirmed by some guy of saxo is that Contador has been training since the day after the tour ended.

He wouldn't ride the vuelta just to get crushed by quintana and froome, he's ready. Then again this is just what i believe based on my knowledge on contador the rider.

even so.. i would still take your word.. :D there's a lot of speculations with contador this year. Not knowing how his form now.. and the fact.. how he is, I agree, Contador doesn't ride vuelta just to sight seeing or to enjoy the view of froome and quintana 'a-ss' when they put the after burner.

Just a quick note on concussions. They are very hard if not impossible to predict in recovery time. And training/competing at altitude is NOT a good thing when trying to heal from one.

The TCS line-up looks really weak for the mountains.
If kreuziger can't make it, then C.Sorensen would be the only support ..... Regardless of his shape , alberto will be isolated in the mountains just like he was at the Dauphiné, this can't be good at all.

I think they are speculating somewhat on what the team could/will be based on the long list that was posted on Facebook.

yep,we need kreuziger desperately, there will be lot of great roulers, but climbing squad is weak as hell.

Not so sure about super any more; was very poor at this years Giro.

Is Basso riding the upcoming Vuelta? I would like to see him try for a top 10 in GC.

I am almost sure that Basso will find his 2nd youth with Bjarne, a man he knows very well.
Last year he was fighting with Valverde and Joaquim. While he seems to have an off year, it's not the natural decline which makes you go slow from 1 year to the next one. Maybe he comes into form for La Vuelta, otherwise a good trouble-free winter and he will be a good pacemaker for the mountains next year.

On his short run at Discovery in -07, can't remember if Basso rode any races with Contador?

Only Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, Alberto placed 1st and Ivan 13th, but they are good friends regardless.

He is in Colorado right now enjoying the view so no Vuelta for Basso. Riis will get him into shape.

Isn't Basso already known for being one of the hardest training cyclists in the peloton? Unless they change his training regime (get De Jongh on the case:p) I can't see him just magically improve significantly

Last year in Vuelta Ivan was very strong until he froze on his bike while this year looked like Contador's last year and look how good Contador is now. So it's entirely possible and he could be very useful in case Kreuziger gets a two year vacation.

Challenge accepted @lorenzo99! Now I challenge @andresiniesta8 @albertocontador and @laralvarezg http://on.fb.me/1vdN5cd #IceBucketChallenge

Poor Alberto :D:D

Now he should nominate Froome and Quintana to mess with their Vuelta preperation:cool:

Btw, they threw in in his face like a boss

Tinkoff has been quoted as saying he will sack anyone found guilty of doping ...There will be nor should there be a vacation if guilty of doping if the team are as they have said not tolerant of anyone who dopes...otherwise how can the team be taken at their word or indeed be anti doping ...just like the proposal that it is only a vacation ...surely those days are over and should not even be realistically proposed on here
