It’s too soon to think about next year’s calendar in terms of Grand Tours, but I’m going to work as hard as I can. I would love to race all three Grand Tours, but it’s a dream, something really complicated, and I can’t really do that.

I lost my hope two years ago, but
Of course I dont think he should do that, but only the attempt would be epic :)

I think they do like and respect one another. A great champion likes a great contender, it makes him raise his game. And both Froome and Contador are fighters to the core - and it is always good to have a near-equal to do battle with.

Great victory for Alberto - so looking forward to next year. I'd love to see the 2013 season well and truly put to bed by AC winning (hopefully in fine style) all his in-form / uninjured rivals.

I never understood the fact that people thought these 2 'hated' eachother. I also find the reasoning of Froome humiliating Contador in his book ridiculous.
People just love to see problems everywhere when there are none. As far as I've seen they respect eachother quite a lot and obviously see eachother as their biggest rival.
We can only hope we have atleast 2 more years of rivalry between these 2!

Congratulations Alberto with your victory! an amazing one seeing where you've come from.

To be fair, I don't think Froome did himself a lot of favours with his book. There are places I found him to be pretty snide, which was disappointing, as I don't think he seems a bad bloke (though the bunny stories I did find odd, truly). Should have checked the tone of the ghost writer much more carefully (and told his girlfriend to keep quiet!).

But frankly, I've enjoyed Contador's 'coffee time' responses a lot - a much more effective way to make a point whilst keeping it fun and friendly so I'm not complaining! AC's a pretty shrewd PR operator - and I get the feeling, a pretty nice bloke. But it is easier to be magnanimous when you're a champion. It also helps if you can go on to make the point on the road - long may he continue to do so!

It helps that Oleg, for all his craziness, comes over as genuinely loving cycling. He comes over as almost fatherly / protective in that photo posted a little back (not that I'd much like to cross him!) I'm a Brit, but Sir D of B never gives off any 'passionate' vibes…and for all I like the individual members, I find Sky hard to warm to, in the way I find an efficient machine hard to warm to. That's why I'd like to see Froome in a different environment, where perhaps we might see more personality - plus different tactics - emerging.

Ack…that pic.spam. Impossible not to fangirl a little...

He's definitely better than in 2012, unlike then it seems Contador got better and better in the vuelta. So he has a chance in lombardia.

if he rides Lombardia, then he might top WT as well.

the real problem is tht valv is doing worlds, while AC wont be riding it.

When will the teams for lombardia be announced?

Next year he'll do Tour and Vuelta again I think. It was planned this year from the beginning.
If he wins at least the Tour again and wins in Spain or just misses the double by a small margin, then he mighty try Giro- Tour in 2016.
For me Giro-Tour is THE achievement. Depends on the parcours of course.

Lombardia is the next big goal. It's not easy with this route, but if he attacks on the hardest climbs and takes 4-5 big guns with him, he can jump away from them on the last hill. Such a move might be difficult against a super Valverde though.

.

Very much this - even on the rest day he was pointing out the 'mandatory' coffee stop. It's great PR as it's funny, diffuses tension with Froome (who can't really complain about being mocked), but probably also gets inside Froome's head just a little bit I would imagine (there's got to be a part of the alpha male, elite competitor in Froome that bridles inside every time Conti takes the mickey out of his coffee comments).

Contador: “Sueño disputar las tres grandes en el mismo año”

Enough for me Giro-Tour in 2015 ...

http://ciclismo.as.com/ciclismo/2014/09/14/vuelta_espana/1410722108_176556.html
The effectiveness of Alberto Contador in the Tour is devastating: three wins overall in his only three appearances in 2008, 2012 and 2014 and also overwhelms his season: 2nd in the Algarve, Tirreno 1st place, 2nd in the Volta, 1st in the Basque Country in the Dauphiné 2nd and 1st in the Vuelta. "The campaign has been amazing, just the thorn me not knowing what had happened in the Tour is. I worked and strove as never to reach the maximum. Pity the fall, I made the year in the most professional way to my career. "

Why crushed both? Answered his brother and agent, Fran: "The way you beat Froome in Tour 2013 Sometimes you learn more from defeat than from victory, you must know how to handle situations to try to reverse them." The motivation to overcome the British led him to spend a winter held in Lugano, where he has taken up residence, and the Teide, a place that he came "first" next to coach Tinkoff, former Sky, Steven de Jongh . And that gives you a "special" value to this Vuelta, "Beating the best always magnifies. Froome is a global standard. "

Abandoning the Tour made him think you would not get to contest the Spanish round. Just two months later, he gave his title to the Apostle Santiago. His lesion defined Dr. Cesar Flores in AS: "Your tibial plateau fracture did not involve problems for cargo or for pedaling in the back, intraarticular. The problem was the wound that was reopened and delayed him. Even so, exercised good for the race. "

Although well trained and only racing at maximum in each test in which you enroll, Contador lowered expectations since announcing his competition: "try to win stages in the third week." And so it has been, in Farrapona and Ancares, but dressed in red, with the general totally under control. At a press conference said Valdelinares day as the turning point: "There I realized I enjoyed the end of good feelings. Before I spent only survive and suffer. "

On the podium in Santiago held its sixth largest (was stripped of the Tour de France 2010 and the Giro d'Italia in 2011 for a positive clenbuterol), a track record which look three laps, two Tour and Giro, Triple Crown "I do not know if back in 2015, a dream would play three rounds of three weeks in the same season "
