I don't think Contador must team up with anyone. It's only the 1st week and when right time comes he'll be at his best.

I guess we'll see tuesday, but i don't think contador can straight up beat froome. I don't think froome will crush contador like he did in 2013 though but yea we've to wait and see.

Froome looks strong right now but I'm not sure if as strong as in 2013. He didn't beat TJVG with huge margins either on Dauphine and maybe is little bit too active on 1st week in my opinion.
I also think that on Wednesday Froome will lose some time to other GC riders.

Yeah. There is only really one rival and that rival is Froome. For the first mountain stages, he should just sit on his wheel and see if he can outkick him in the final.

If Nibali or Quintana attacks, It wouldn't even matter. He'll be sure that Froome is going to chase them down.

In the third week if Froome still in front of him, he has to attack more in a more unorthodox manner (penultimate climb, downhill, early in the stage, mid-mountain stages).

If I were TS, I'd be working with Astana and Movistar now. The ideal option is that they are still in the GC game by the mountains, but that he retains his current lead over them. Then it becomes a very much harder situation to manage for Sky. Add in a bit of crap weather in the Alps, and I think there is quite a bit of time to gain, even if neither are in the form to beat Froome. I can't see why either Nibali or Contador would not work together if it was to their mutual benefit no matter what happened in the Giro. My enemies' enemy is my friend…they want to get a job done. No. 1 worry is currently Froome.

I wonder how we'l emerge from the TTT. I'm hoping Sky will be a bit weaker than expected and lose time (though Movistar are part of the walking wounded)

Froome CAN put seconds on Alberto..today?! Are you crazy? :pm ç
If it really happens he should immediately end his career, after the stage. As he may lose the wheel of Froome on 850m 7% ? it would be ridiculous.

i think among the contenders nothing will happen, but ,of course, we shall see something more of their shape

I so want Contador to beat Froome and even better win the Tdf this year but after watching these two at the tdf 2013 and to my surprise see Froome being better than AC I am not so sure. I missed the Giro this year. Question so are we not allowed to discuss doping at all now? My first post using my cell.

There is no doping talk anywhere on the forum except in the clinic section.

You're being sarcastic right? Froome already dropped him in a flat sprint and a steep uphill finish, so wouldn't be surprised if he gains some seconds on a finish between the two. As long as Contador keeps it close and stays mentally strong until the rest day, I think he has a shot to round into form and win this.

If he shadows Froome only, the same as in last year's Dauphine is going to happen. Rodriguez still has nightmares about letting go Hesjedal, and Nibali about Horner. Interesting how weak Nibali was in the Poland Tour in this year, and a couple of weeks later back at his best in the Vuelta. So there's hope AC can pull the same trick.

No , not at all.
You go by bike? You know what it means 800m 7%? It's ridicolous for most of the peloton , obvious sprinters like Greipel and Cav will be dropped , but for the others sucking wheels ,they don't realize it even. Only guys as Sagan , Valvderde ans Degen sprinting could do small gaps. You will see

Right but Froome put 4 seconds on him in a flat sprint just a couple stages ago...I am not saying he WILL get time on him, but it is not unthinkable, nor does it mean Contador is finished as an elite cyclist, as you suggested.

Contador was right on Purito's wheel at the crash on the right side of the road, ended up 8 seconds behind the group Purito bridged to. Sigh.

I can't believe people can be this biased to the extent that it makes them blind.

Contador was behind froome when the crash happened. And someone it's unfair contador didnt get an edge on froome when he almost crashed and had to sit up? LOL

I agree it would be worrying if he gets dropped by Froome here. Remember, he could follow Froome on Mur de Huy until he (Alberto) tried to follow Purito in a steep corner and blew up. 800m @7% shouldn't be an issue.

Are you really serious? He could follow Froome there because Froome hold back. He dropped when Purito and Froome went full gas.

Sometimes it's just better to be realistic.

To be fair, only one person said that.

Hi Arredondo, congratulations with Purito the other day :) Don't think I saw you active at the time.

Thanks Netserk. I was on a holiday in Zeeland till wednesday, watching the Tour on stage 2. I saw Purito and others suffering with my own eyes, which was cool. I had really bad wifi on the camping, so no time and posibilities to react on CN :)

That's not what I saw.
