A shame he couldn't outsprint Thomas for that 1s :p but no accidents and no time loss. Well done.

Alberto sprint? What?
It was crazy, Matthews, Thomas and Berto sprinted for 2 and 1 bonus seconds, obviously Berto lost but still :p and he sprinted in the drops

Wow! Thank you. It's good to know he's still got that hunger inside him.

I know he really gave it a go. Man never could sprint though :) Anyway safely through even though he was alone for the final kms...again.
It did look that way. Not entirely sure where Majka got to but the ES commentators said he had a mechanical about 20K out. I see though that he made into the front group at the end. Maybe he was just trying to bridge...hope so anyway..

Yes, what was the *** reason that Valgren and/or Tosatto were not with him? If this had once happened to LA he would have fired the whole team and rightly so.

Tosatto was there until the first climb and was basically hanging on. I suspect Valgren was lost during the first split. In any event, Tinkoff's team wasn't built for this stage IMO (I suspect Sky wanted to or expected to gain more on this stage given their team makeup). Hopefully he's surrounded from here on out until its time to do his thing.

Oh, worse than I thought, thanks for the info. Tosa und Valgren are roulleurs, they should be happy with this stage. No place for them in TdF squad, bring Jay McCarthy

Tosatto did an okay job, he helped Alberto quite a bit but Alberto sometimes lost his wheel (how surprising) and he struggled on the hill. Valgren had 2 punctures and got a rain jacket stuck in his wheel.

Sky could have gotten more out of this stage, I suspect they may regret not trying if they end up losing the race. Alberto was often isolated and badly positioned, and Thomas and his teammates are quite good on this terrain.

Ach, but it is always something and in the end he is always alone.

Good that I didn't see it though, Bertie losing a wheel makes me always pretty nervous.

I agree with all of this. Really surprised that Thomas didn't attack on the final lap.

I'm not that surprised. This was a stage for strongmen/puncheurs...some were even contemplating as to whether Kittel could be there in the final. This was just a day for the GC guys to not lose time imo.

Any one knows why the tinkoff squad raced in black shorts yesterday ? Looks really cool though
I asked that in the Team kits thread, apparently they are water-resistant shorts for cold weather :)

According to ES it was Tinkov that caused the split. Shame they couldn't have helped Sky a bit more once it was established, but no-one else did either

Looked like Sky and EQS to me. <shrug>

Tinkoff presence more or less consisted of Tosatto desperately trying to keep Bertie in position. (and loosing him constantly as per usual. :p )

What it looked like to you is not that interesting  Fact is that Tinkov started it with Etix and Sky joining after the split was created.

On another note this PN is over unless Bertie gets a injurie/crash etc. Beating Thomas, Porte and Tom is like taking candy from a baby for arguably the greatest GT rider of all time! (Only say this cause he said he wanted to win it otherwice I would be a bit hesitant as to much effort he would put in for PN)

Alberto bleeding more time today, gaps in the peloton, I think he loses 4s on Thomas and 15s (including boni's) on Matthews

Including Ion Izagirre and Tom Dumoulin.
Yep, you're right. He might have lost even more but I can only see until place 25 on the official website.

:( I am afraid his team is just not good enough. The win is extremely compromised now.

:( I had no idea where he was with all the ruckus at the front. Silly time losses :(

Very frustrating. Winning the race was already a difficult task but it's quickly becoming impossible.

Omg he lost 4 seconds? Damn yea, it's pretty much over now.

Might aswell abandon this race and quickly fly to italy for the T-A
