Contador is way better now than in 2015 aswell. And the vuelta doesn't suit Kruijswijk, besides the guy is prob not over what happened in the giro. I don't think he'll be a factor.

Not many guys can have the same level in the giro as they had in the vuelta.

In recent memory only purito comes to mind. Nibali in '13 was considerably weaker. Even Contador in '08 wasn't that great in the vuelta. Aru's level was pretty damn good though last year but it doesn't happen so often which is my point
Contador was better than in giro. Contador was very good in vuelta. Did you see his show in angliru?

Yea of course but that wasn't his normal level, he was way better than that. Look at his showing in the MTT at the end of the vuelta

Oh boy. How I missed contador today. even if he were behind, he probably would go for broke. Long distance range attacl and make sky chase plus throw havoc on the other GC wanna be contender...

In a way I am glad the likes of Nibali and Contador won't contest this Tour. They shouldn't lower themselves to take part in such a farcical race.

PANTANI: I do not understand your post. "Farcical" how? Or are you not permitted to explain on this web site?

Also, I've seen your Ricco quote, and have to admit I am guilty as charged. I know Riccardo is an idiot, but he may be the best pure climber I've ever seen. I'd toss Contador into this argument, possibly Rasmussen, definitely Pantani, and note that Valverde is to me surprisingly powerful on ridiculously graded climbs, like L'Angliru and I'm sure the Zoncolan (I don't remember him on the Zoncolan - he avoided Italy, I believe). The Texan wouldn't make it because I don't remember ever seeing him do double digit gradient climbs, which is one of my key factors for rating climbers. The Texan avoided the Giro and the Vuelta, both of which generally featured more extreme climbs than the TDF.

Would be curious as to your list, but Ricco absolutely makes mine, and might even make the top spot. I wish his career had continued, personally.....

Ricco? He showed form for 1 year and why can't be discussed here. Ricco is not a scratch on climbers like Alberto Contador, Marco Pantani, even the Schleck brothers. You obviously weren't following cycling in 1998. Watch the Youtube of Tour stages to PdB and Les Deux Alpes and tell me where Ricco did anything even remotely close? No one in GC was worried about Ricco in the 2008 Tour before he got popped. But with Pantani Jan Ulrich was wary for good reasons. Pantani was a giant killer Ricco was an amusement while he lasted.

This tour sucks and it is not froomes fault. Froome is the only one who has actually attacked and in different conditions. I blame his opponents because they have tried abselutly nothing ! The only thing they have tried is waiting for the last mountain and they are not gonna beat a really strong sky team on just one mountain. They have to try from far out if they are gonna burn out sky. Yes they would use a lot of power with a long distance attack but so would sky. Makes you miss Contador so much more with his rideing style.. I believe he is the only rider in the current peloton there can beat froome and team sky

let's be plainspoken, most fans would've been happy about contador winning the Tour in any manner. an askew or awry win, a win gotten by the expense of the strongest team, injured contenders, a huge chunk of luck - all that would've been appreciated, as a tour win is a tour win and contador is a big love and god-like cyclist. However, we are forced to see froome in the yellow jersey hence it causes another outbreak of hate. double standarts at its finest.

Not really.
There is nothing worse for me than AC winning his last Tour against poor competition. That win would be absolutely pointless.(for me)
