I can believe that. The no announcement does not add up. I suspect its a money issue (isn't it always?). They are offering far lower, AC says if I get a GT it shows I am worth Bazulions. We see what the final numbers are.

Perhaps that's also why he's getting cozy with Quintana. If Trek falls through, he might be looking to get a gig at Movistar - leading them in the Giro and being a super-dom in the Tour.

I seriously doubt this. There is no way he is actively advocating to be a super-dom for anyone.

I seriously doubt this. There is no way he is actively advocating to be a super-dom for anyone.

I have already addressed that issue here a couple of weeks ago. That deal is dependent on his performance in this vuelta, since he retired from the Tour. Since he is old, Trek needs to know if his capacity has decreased since 2015.

So why did the Trek manager (Guercilena) say "with a rider like him, we don't have to wait till after the Tour to sign him, we know what he is worth"

It's a bit odd, many times it's been confirmed he's signed already (by De Jongh, Pantano...) but there were also rumors Contador contacted Astana after the Tour but Vino didn't have the money/room.

Precisely. Even though Alberto has crashed several times in the last 2 months (and didn't ride the Tour, which means he's fresh), he's not stronger than Quintana, who has ridden the Tour.
At almost 34 years he's a liability.

Well, I agree it's a bit disrespectful in a way, but it's business. Trek aren't a charity retirement home, and with Mollema looking capable of a top 5 at the Tour - Contador doesn't seem to offer a great improvement on that based on his form in this Vuelta.

Alternatively, of course, he may have already signed weeks ago.

I suppose you could call him a liability for his inability to stay on his bike, but that hasn't got much to do with his age
