Great show today. Alberto and his fighting spirit are irreplaceable. Agree his career is heading happy ending in Madrid.

For me today's stage have a lot of symbolism. Alberto attacking with Lopez, Lopez winning has something in it. It looks a bit like the king handed over the scepter to next chosen one (OK, we will see).

Le Roi est mort, vive le Roi!

Is it really crazy to say maybe his best chance will be the TT? Especially if Froome needs to measure his effort anxiously for what's still to come.

He should go all out in the TT. If he blows up so be it

He's not going to beat Froome in the TT, but he could make up some ground and places in GC, but does that really matter to him at this point?

I think a remaining goal at this point is to win a stage, hopefully the penultimate one. I hope he just starts throwing haymakers, going on the attack every stage, including Madrid :D just for sh!ts and giggles!

I saw this symbolism also. MAL looks like the real deal, but only time will tell.

Meanwhile as long as Alberto arrives in Madrid smiling I will be happy. Whatever he has left in his legs to give us I will enjoy. He has Nothing to prove to anyone, he is a true Legend!

At least he will keep attacking and trying stuff . You never know. But in all honesty my favourite rider is way past his best in terms of recovery . He can still put in a great climb but cannot recover anymore. I have a strange feeling he will make a comeback in 2019.

it's totally right to create a salary cap , there is no need for a team to sign superdomestique like SKY did , please make it happen , and the stupid Froome believe that is communism , what a stupid guy , that way races are way more good to see ,

He also said he will see where he stands after the TT and will then formulate a plan of attack.
15 m seems short to me but 20 m is more than enough

Contador is right , think about it all the narrative of Team sky being innovative science driven is total rubbish it's just that they have THE MONEY to sign some hellish good climbers to choo choo the climbs NOTHING MORE , and that's why Alberto Contador said this , he expercience the win of gt WITHOUT A team , so it's frustrating to see a guy winning the way Froome win and compare it the way Contador win

Yeah. But did he ever ask for that before? When he was making a good size portion of a team's budget? He doesn't seem to have a dog in that hunt anymore -- retiring next year.

EDIT: I quoted the wrong post, and hopefully corrected it.

just think about it Contador demonstrate to be much much more intelligent than Froome , the latter said that salary cap is communism , HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS total nonsense , salary cap is in the american sports , the State who is in total opposition to communism , so Froome next time shut up and your stupidity will not be known

I can see it
Alberto Contador Velasco for UCI president 2025
Mandatory MTT in each GT, 5 men GT teams and 15m budget caps. After each stage 3-2-1 minute time bonus for "style and bravery" will be awarded by an independent jury.

I would say 2020 but he needs to be RFEC president first.

So you'd limit how much riders can make? I think GCN had average budget at roughly 20 mil 2 years ago. Salaries the only easy way to cut budgets. teams need to get more money from TV rights. and since when has any racing Jury come up with a decision that won't be hated by half the fans. This is racing not figure skating (Sagan wins the Tour by pulling a wheelie up every mountain)
