Well it's a historical day for cycling in one day we know the winners of Tour 2010, Giro 2011, Tour 2012 (Evans), and Vuelta 2012 (Contador).

Just kidding but well is a fact and it's a sad day for cycling 2 year are too much for 50 picogrames when FIFA cleared a nobodys in Mexico who get 50 times more clembuterol than Contador.

Well, you understand that if you have a 2-year ban, then of course that you can't have the results of 2011 right? Otherwise it is not a 2 year ban.
Easy, look:

24 months ban minus 6 months already served between 2010 and 2011 = 18 months ban
February 2012 plus 18 months = August 2013

No need to take away anything except for the TdF title. I think this Valverde route makes a mess of the sport.

Apparently the CAS expects us to occupy this bizarre reality where Michele Scarponi won a horribly difficult Giro and that Spanish dude riding ahead of him is just a figment of our collective imagination.

Bertie will ALWAYS be the 2011 Giro winner in my eyes. WADA, UCI, CAS can't erase that from my memory.

In the end, it appears that he just didn't do enough good for enough people. <snip>
no (wink), it means the 'donations' are no longer as protective as they used to be.

Press release: CAS decision in Contador case

06.02.2012

The UCI acknowledges the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to impose a suspension of 2 years on the rider Alberto Contador following the UCI’s appeal, brought in conjunction with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), in the case concerning the Spanish cyclist.

In rejecting the defence argument, in particular that the presence of clenbuterol in Alberto Contador's urine sample came from the consumption of contaminated meat, today's ruling confirms the UCI's position.

However, the UCI has not derived a sense of satisfaction from the CAS ruling, but rather welcomes the news as the end of a long-running affair that has been extremely painful for cycling.

Without wanting to enter into the details of the ruling, UCI President Pat McQuaid said: "This is a sad day for our sport. Some may think of it as a victory, but that is not at all the case. There are no winners when it comes to the issue of doping: every case, irrespective of its characteristics, is always a case too many."

The UCI will not issue any further comments on the matter.

He loses money and results on a sheet of paper, but he doesn't have to go through the usual buildup after 2 years away from the races. On top of that, I don't think he should have lost those 2011 results in the first place. It's a farce.

Give the man a proper 2-year ban, take away his 2010 TdF title, and be done with it.

You make no sense. If you support a two year ban from his AAF in 2010, how can you not take away in 2011 results?

If everything Landis said of the 2006 Tour is true (and I don't doubt it), then he is still the true winner. Of all the dopers he was the best of them all.

I don't see any logic in that, in the Law perspective. Why February? Why not March? Or January? Because he starte the season in February - then is it to benefit the guilty? And would Contador be better with a ban until next year or the chance to be back this year?

That doesn't have any logic.

Yes that would make sense, are we sure it won't be handled that way?

This is so very sad. I wont judge if this is justified or not, just that from a personal view, Cycling has lost a great champion who will be hugely missed. Well at least it frees up 3 weeks in my summer vacation to do something else this year. :(

<3 Bertie.

I bet Phil, Lance and Horner are all thrilled by now.

Remember. Andy and Lance are the true heroes of the world mind you.
