Allen Lim to Testify 9/29

Allen Lim is set to testify to the Grand Jury on Wednesday, Sept 29th. For those out of the loop, Lim is a PhD physiologist and coach from Colorado who was one of Floyd's go-to guys in training for his 2005 Tour win. Floyd says it was Lim who helped him dope. Even Lim himself noted at the time he was using Floyd's detailed diaries to help tune Floyd's training and riding that Tour.

Lim has been with Radio Shack for the last year and at the TOC said he knew nothing about Floyd's doping, and would never work with riders or teams that doped.

Just in case anyone wonders, I believe Lim is going to uphold the omerta and say he never knew Floyd took anything, or ever saw anyone else dope with anything. He'll be grilled by prosecutors who will ask how he can be a doctor, a renowned physiologist, "scientist" as he likes to say, and not even suspect a single thing while looking at Floyd's detailed diaries, analyzing Floyd's power outputs, and seeing that Floyd had the highest hct ever taken at the 3rd week of the Tour (over 49, while his normal is 42), and he will have to plea ignorance, stupidity; That uneducated, Mennonite farm boy Floyd fooled him on the science.

Of course he will uphold it. Being paid six-figures to work w/ celebrities and travel the globe is a lot more fun than working in a university basement performance lab somewhere, taking lactate readings of the field hockey team...

As for his answers:

1. I'm not a doctor, just a PhD.
2. I've never ridden professionally, so I know nothing of a doping "culture".
3. The recent Ashenden study proves micro-dosing beats the bio-passport. How was I supposed to know that back in 2006?
4. That 49% was due to dehydration and altitude!

It will be difficult for Allen to lie because there is probably Landis' friends who have seen Lim acccomplice of Landis' doping.

Landis would have provided USADA enough candidates for cooboration or any other evidence to confirm his own use via Lim...

I'll have to check back on what was revealed in May, but the articles so far today hardly make it sound like Lim was the mastermind behind Landis. Of course, he's not the one the grand jury is targeting.

The article said Kevin Livingston might testify today already. That should be a doozy.

Landis told Ford a different account last spring, saying that he paid Lim $80,000 during the 2005 season, chiefly for helping with the logistics of transporting bags of Landis' own blood to be transfused. The method, known as blood doping, increases an endurance athlete's ability to process oxygen.

Lim vehemently denied the arrangement and said Landis paid him a fraction of that amount for training advice only.

"The thing is, he really didn't know anything about the doping, and by that time, I had learned it all," Landis told Ford during a lengthy interview last May, his first public admission that he had lied for the previous four years about doping during his career.

Is Livingston the guy Papp hinted about on twitter, or is another former teammate in the pipeline?

When Livingston went to T-Mobile he was shocked at how little Ullrich was doping compared to the USPS program. Armstrong cut him fromm his life but later gave him his entire basement floor at MJ to set up a cycle testing clinic. That was around the time Livingston was talking to JV way too much.

here’s what floyd wrote about lim’s role in the may 2010 email. there must be much more that did not make into the infamous email.
2005: I had learned at this point how to do most of the transfusion
technicals and other things on my own so I hired Allen Lim as my assistant to help with details and logistics. He helped Levi Leipheimer and I prepare the transfusions for Levi and I and made sure they were kept at the proper temperature.

“hired to help with details and logistics’ means a long trails of receipts, records, emails …i sense that some of floyd’s ‘2006 wiki defence team’ associates will (or have already) corroborate[d] lim’s involvement… will be hard to lie if novi bothered to do even one half of his home work.

a smart and thorough chap like lim should appreciate novi’s diligence, take the immunity offer and sing.

what’s then ? subpoena for levi or had he already spoken to novi.

This guy will crumble like a bad apple pie. He's not very convincing !

Yep, that's a classic.

I thought I remembered the mention of Leipheimer in connection with Lim, and it tied in with what LL's former manager said in his book about Levi's blood value warning at the Tour de France.

I sure hope this is a better week for the fight than the one with McIlvain (or her lawyer) lying, and Bordry resigning.

Anyone remember the video of Lim attempting to lie at the ToC this year?

The guy cant hide anything. It was written all over his face.

Yeah, he's guilt was completely transparent in the interview.

It was actually painful to watch Lim's incoherent babbling - " ...you know I mean...it's crazy, aye..." He looked like he was going to cry.

Judging by Lim's performance on this video, I think he's going to crack on the stand.

to the hilited, i sure hope so but the fact lim is subpoenaed rather than a voluntary or informal interview point to dragging his feet and selective amnesia.

there is a difference between the on-the-spot interview with a cycling outlet and the several months preparation with an attorney.

I actually posted the link to that in the original post. :)

As to Lim cooperating, it all depends on whether or not they are offering him any sort of deal, doesn't it? I mean, he isn't a physician so he won't lose a license, but considering his position he could be one of the key people Novi and his team are going after. If not, and they are going to offer him a deal, he could provide very damaging testimony...depending on what he truly has to say.

I still honestly don't see much of a deal offered, and him testifying that he never saw doping, doesn't know what Floyd is talking about, and doesn't remember various specifics, etc.

True, but this guy is definitely not a good poker player...he looks guilty talking about rice cakes.

I just hope that Novitzky and Miller are not dealing with an 'OJ' jury.

By the way, the incoherent Lim video was on youtube for awhile and then replaced with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_h1hjqJh6I Lim was edited down to 16 seconds at 47sec. mark.

i posted several times in other threads re lim's role as a 'cover up agent' for floyd when he got involved with regular public wattage analysis whilst allegedly facilitating blood doping. i'm curious if novi is interested in that activity more than the fact of doping itself. a connection ?... well, since the investigation is into fraud and his previous week's subpoenaed witness was obviously covering up, we are perhaps seeing an interesting angle in the investigation since lim could be hired by the shack to cover up too ?

After watching that video I'd say mission complete for Floyd.
