No top 10 this time around...9'27" down today WTF ?!

I agree.

I really think that with a decent preparation Klodi would have been better to try for a good GC here, as it could be the only big race that he had another shot at podiuming. Why not go for top 3 here rather than just worry about top 10 or 15 in Tour? Besides, he has achieved good results before in Swiss in '07 and '09 and been able to take that form into July.

Oh well. Just a matter of counting down the days now. Nineteen more sleeps, or more accurate twenty-six until the BIG day, that's if he doesn't encounter bad luck in week one.

Lol, that would be really interesting to observe their team tactics. I don't doubt both Andy and Haimar hit top 10, though

Happy Birthday Klodi!

I found these quotes below in the aftermath of the Tour of Swiss ITT. I think it leaves us Klodists with better hopes for July...of a top ten finish of course!

For a time team rider Andreas Klöden sat in the hot seat for the best time on the stage 9 uphill time trial from Bad Ragaz to Flumserberg at 26.8km: “I said before coming here that it was important to be in good shape for this race. It’s the last race before the Tour. I was sick at first and had six days of antibiotics but halfway through I was getting better and better. For me I needed to see that my legs were coming better so today provided that test. This wasn’t an easy race, especially being sick at the beginning.”

Klöden continued: “These last three days my form has been coming back and it was my goal today to show that I have good legs. I know this climb. I was sure if I went too fast on the flat that I would blow up on the climb. So I went tempo on the first part and then I knew the last 35 minutes had to be all out. The younger riders are always looking at the SRM but I think you need a general idea of how your own body is feeling. For example in a race like Tour de Suisse, you cannot generate the same power at the end of the race that you did at the beginning. That’s why I just picked a good pace for the first part.”

Klöden seems like a reasneble guy, I liked his comment about SRM. Hopefully its true, I want cycling to be about feelings, tacticts and technics. Not about a computer-programe.

Klödi looked good today, but he always does that on these type of stages early in the tour.

But, when the first big mountain comes, i fully expect Klödi to start of in the first 10 riders, and then blow completely and be in the red zone by Kilometer 2 of the climb. That`s sadly how the last few years have been ;)

I just checked Klodi's height and weight as posted on Radioshack's site:

6', 139 lbs
183cm, 63kg

Damn! I know these guys are skinny, but I'm still taken aback whenever I really think about it...

Zubeldia will get dropped 10 minutes before but still manage to beat Klöden at the line.

Wow, Klodi working for a teammate other than Ulle or Armstrong! Clearly looking for a job for next year ;-)

He was also working for Tony Gallopin on stage 1 setting him up for the sprint. So he is definantly looking for a new contract :)

Poor guy, having to work for about 10 minutes a day for a new contract. I feel sorry for him.

Some guys here are talking nonsense.

Klöden is one of the best helpers in the world. He prooved that repeatedly. He also worked for Vinokourov, even for Kashechkin, although he was in a much better shape back then in 2007. And ask Contador. He worked for him very well in 2008, both at the Giro and at the Vuelta. In fact he would have achieved much better result, if he was captain more often.

I'm sure, he's going to be the most important helper for Schleck in the Alps.
