No, clearly it's not sufficient evidence of a GC champion. But when you are young and still on an amateur team and go uphill faster than guys like Rory Sutherland, Ben Day, Francisco Mancebo, Phil Gaimon, Ben Jaques Maynes, etc. ever were able to in the multiple times they did that short uphill TT, it makes it quite clear that he was an explosive climber who could POTENTIALLY be developed.

Is he clean? No clue. Was he clean then? No clue. Based on the power data I have from that race, he probably did about 7.25 w/kg that day for 7:54. That shows potential to race with the big kids if he was clean at that time.

To be honest, I like this attitude better. Spending "$500,000 to make sure their clean" can be self-blinding. There is no way you can know, and you alienate people when you make assertions that can't be backed up. Everything in cycling needs to be viewed with skepticism for the time being.

I was being sarcastic. The question of whether clean riders can beat juiced riders is answered by the many honorable riders who refused PED and were never greats in cycling but could have been on fair playing field. They have said its just NOT possible.

Sastre's numbers was higher than Evans, just so you know. Did climb Alpe D'huez about 2 minutes faster in 2008 compared with Evans in 2008 and 2011. Just saying.
