What could have been for this guy, if he had a good stable mind he could have been a Giro destroyer. I loved Andy in 2007 Giro, he was only 21-22(came 2nd), i don't think he would have won many Tour's but he could have gone down as one of the very best climbers ever. The only guy Contador actually feared really, they were glued to eachother. I admit i have lost all hope, it is sad as he is still young enough.

It appears I may have falsely maligned Andy. Results of this race are weird. Procyclingstats originally had a complete set of results, including over 50 DNFs, but then reset them so that it just shows 80 or so finishers (no DNFs at all). Cyclingnews now has complete results showing 114 finishers and only 17 DNFs, including Cancellara but not Andy. So according to cyclingnews at least, Andy did finish this race, in 92nd place, 15:43 down.

I would also like this scenario to happen, he's put in a half decent effort today. Lets see what tomorrow brings with Andy.

Converted an article with a couple of responses from the Schlecks...

DW/jg) - in the opening time trial of the tour de Suisse, where, also Andy and Fränk are Schleck and Laurent Didier (all Trek factory racing) at the start, which has secured itself German time trial world champion Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-quick step) the victory in the opening time trial.

With 13'48 "80 was Martin at the end of 6" faster than the Dutchman Tom Dumoulin (giant-Shimano) and 13 "than the Rohan Dennis (AUS/Orica GreenEdge). The Swiss Fabian Cancellara (Trek factory racing) came up with a backlog of 16 "as the fourth. Andy Schleck was 60 (55 ") the fastest Luxembourg. His brother Fränk Schleck (85th) was 1'09 "slower than Martin, Didier (75th) was 1 ' 06" slightly faster than his team-mate.

"I felt even worse when such a time-trial. Yes, it was actually quite decent. Nevertheless, it is difficult to draw conclusions after such a short stretch", so Andy Schleck in a first reaction.

Also Fränk Schleck was dissatisfied after the target arrival and already looked ahead to the upcoming tasks: "this was a kick-off for real specialists. Freshness and liveliness are crucial. My time is not very good, but I also like expected. I'm not an expert in this discipline. Tomorrow, it is already really exciting. The three major climbs are very early on the route, but also the last climb of second category to be quite demanding around 20 km from the finish."

Just so there is no misunderstanding, the meaning of this is "I have had worse time trials than this"

I think it bodes fairly well. I think that even if Andy can get in the top 10 TDF this year it will improve his confidence and give him motivation towards 2015. Seeing also today that Froome is beatable will help a little. Maybe bold but I believe Andy was, and possibly could still be a better climber than Froome.

Obviously Andy is training for the Ponferrada World Championship, he already got one Le Tour, time for something more challenging. :D

Today Andy was in the group, nor his brother.. maybe Frank is looking for and stage win... Anyway,. Andy has done a crap season so far, but now he looks not really bad, we will see in the mountain stage.
I think as well that he could climb better than Froome, but not this year...but now Quintana could beat everybody climbing.

I didn't see the stage, but I heard reports Andy was riding prominently on the front on the last climb in Suisse today even jumping on all the attacks.:eek::eek:

I'm starting to believe in at least a top 10 in the TDF if he really rides like this in Suisse.
