All this talk about Froome and AC fighting for 2nd place after Nibali this tour makes me think that we've forgotten about Andy boy. The lad will suprise you all and challenge Froome and AC for sure this July :):p

Can't recall Andy being quite this weak in the run in to the Tour. Still lets see what he can do in Switzerland.

Correct, I misread the article, Frank expects to be team leader for 2 more years.

I think he said; He would like. Meaning that he wants. "Wanted" and "Expected" are two different things.

below is his quote:
“I would like to be a team leader for another two years. And after that I would like to be there for young riders.”

I don't even think Andy will make the Tour team unless he shows something at TdS

I've no doubt he will make the team but even my usually blind optimism is fading race by race. Hey ho, let's see how Suisse goes:rolleyes:

time to face reality for Andy-he can't any longer BS his way to get a tour spot when he's not even riding-let alone racing & performing. I'm sorry but Trek must pull the plug on him & start embracing other riders like Arredondo & Kiserlosky, instead of hoping for Andy's "second kingdom coming".....

After he finished 20th at last year's TdF, Andy went to North America in August and completed all seven days of racing at the USA Pro Challenge (961 kilometers total), where he finished 31st on GC. This would prove to be his last completed race of the year, as he then posted a string of five DNFs (and one DNS) at one-day races in France, Canada, and Italy. He ended his season with a DNF at Lombardia.

This year, Andy has completed 30 days of racing (4450 kilometers total) and posted his best result of the season on the "Green Mountain" stage of the Tour of Oman, where he finished 34th.

He will have to be profoundly impressive at Tour de Suisse to even be considered for a ride on the TdF squad if you as me.

Frank and Andy Schleck expect to be team leader for "2 more years" before passing on the reigns to younger riders, teaching them "how to have fun"...boggles the mind these two. I expect both will be out of contract this year and I can't think of anyone who would pick them up as team leaders. I am not even so sure they could be signed as domestiques, considering that they refuse to race most of the season. I think this could be a curtain call year for both the Schlecks

Nope.... no. Fr

Nope.... no. Frank was only talking about himself. Glad to hear he still wants to ride for more than two years, and I think this is a realistic assessment. He is still capable to deliver, even though it hasn't happened for him this season yet, he showed that he was ready on several occasions. IMO he would be a relatively certain bet to get a few good results for any team, barring injury and clinic issues of course.

I think Frank was a bit over raced in the early season but he still got some OK results. It's a good plan to ride a few more years even in Trek: Jungels still needs to mature, Kiser is doing OK but not really great and Arredondo is more of a stage hunter. If Frank still has it in him to top10 WT mountainous stage races/GT's I would say he's worth keeping. Also he seems to get along fine with everyone and always shows up in some sort of shape.

About Andy, I thought there was hope after the Tour last year. Then he lost himself again. At this point I say it's a mental issue. Even a guy like Breschel with all sort of knee injuries has come back to decent levels and wins at least a race almost every year. Andy seems to be just a waste of talent. It's sad, he was the most elegant climber out there, as far as I'm concerned. Rolland reminds me of him.

In six weeks it'll be three years since his last win/decent performance. Three full years!

Let's hope he retires ASAP.

Trek gave a contract extension to Arrendondo. Sounds like they're embracing him.

of course they did. They guy just won king of the mountain classification on his first GT. Not too shabby for a newbie. Besides he is young too.

Jens said today in the post-race interviews that, in his opinion, the only two riders guaranteed a spot on the Trek TdF squad are Fabian Cancellara and...Fränk Schleck.

Andy climbed off at Gippingen today, though admittedly with like fifty other guys including over half his Trek squad and a lot of big(gish) names getting ready for Tour de Suisse.
