Frank crashed today and may not start tomorrow.

Thanks. I supossed something like that.

Now I see this:

“I think today could be considered the queen stage of the tour. There were three mountain climbs in a row, two which were hors catégorie. The weather conditions did not make it easier, either. It was not a good day for us because Fränk crashed. We hope he is okay for the next days and more so for the upcoming races. But it was a lot of stress for gaining nothing in the end.

“Personally, I felt pretty good, not super, but good. When they attacked in the last climb I could follow the top 5-10 top guys and that’s good for the morale for the next days.”

-Andy Schleck

Yeah, Andy finally did something worth watching from the looks of it... but from what I can see, maybe it will be a good idea to stick a camera in Frank's helmet so that Andy can see anything that Frank sees, so he doesn't feel insecure or something like that just because his brother isn't in his line of sight.

But finally Andy!! Looking forward to a couple of mountain stage wins on Tour!

Haven't seen the race but on the other hand which renowned climbers (and I mean those capable of winning a GT) are present in Suisse?

No Contador, Froome, Quintana, Rodriguez, Valverde etc...

I think one must look Andy's race in function of this fact...

That is not the problem, there are enough good people to test properly, similar to last year... we have Mollema, Rui Costa, Evans, Pinot, Acevedo, Wiggins, Kreuziger, Henao,...and some other good climbers in shape with less name...

The issue is that Andy finished 40 last year in Suisse, and he started with a 134 in the prologue and a 54 in Crans montana, not better than this year, but in the Tour de France, he finished 20, even looking the stage in a breakaway in Alp D Huez, and he did a decent second ITT, so.. he maybe could have been finished 15th.

What I mean is that he is still on time to be top ten in the Tour, he should be top 20 here in Suisse, and so far is possible.

Andy competes riders who are not on the same level as the ones I cited in my previous message. What's the use for Andy to ride for top 20 or top 15? He has to ride to win the TDF or any other GT. He should ride the Vuelta this year without any stress...

Andy is not very good right now but lucky for him no one on his team is. They are all either injured or in poor form. I have nothing against guys like Zubeldia or Busche, but right now it's not like they're miles ahead of Andy, if they're even ahead of him at all. So even though Andy is not great, his team might well take him simply because they don't really have anyone better either.

Plus they say they want to go for stage wins, but they don't have anyone who is a decent finisher. Busche, Rast, Roulston, Popovych, Irizar, Didier.... all good riders but not winners. Cancellara is really their only hope, and Devolder maybe, and that about says it all. Unless Jensie can pull it off one last time, but that's a cra@pshoot too.

All of their potential stage hunters were at the Giro, with Arredondo, Nizzolo and Felline. The others are still too young, like Stuyven and Silvestre. Maybe they should have taken Van Poppel, but in the long run it seems like the smarter idea not to take him (to me at least)

Anyhow, bottom line... it's not like Andy is up against really strong competition in his team

Should Andy do the Giro - Vuelta next year. Or maybe the Vuelta this year and the Giro - Tour next year.

Basically I think he needs a GT to get in shape for the next at this point.

The question is does he himself want to do this??? Most likely he will insist doing LBL-Tour as he always does.

his biggest issue will be getting a contract for next year .

He did a grand tour last year and it hasn't seemed to have benefited him at all to look at his results this year. He seems to have regressed instead of progressed.:(

But he has been injured in Ardennes...

That is true but that fact could help him this year to be better in the Tour...
his result today is similar to Crans montana last year... I must compare thus TdS with last year, and he is on time to do it better.
I dont know if he could fight for the podium in TdF, it looks impossible, but he could get a shape to figt for top ten or for stages still. We will see how he finish in Suisse.

im exactly the same , i was one of his biggest fans when i joined this forum but he has totally destroyed his fan base in my opinion and he rides as if he no longer cares about anything .

it will be nothing other than a miracle if he does anything in the tour and where he goes after that only god knows .

hes just another incredible talent that has been wasted , we see it in a lot of sports unfortunately . i find it very sad .

It's going to be harder for Andy to find a contract now that Belkin riders will also be looking for a new team.

Andy hasn't shown anything for Trek and I think other teams would rather take Kelderman, Ten Dam or Mollema as GC contender riders than Andy.

Has Andy just become a stage hunter kind of rider? [if he can make that effort]

When was the last time that he was in a break that made it to the line during his return from his most serious injury (was that injury 2 years ago?)?
