Yes out of all the different fanboy/girls out there, you Andyfans are the weirdest. :p But I'll give you this: man you're loyal. :D Or is it just blindness?....oh I better not even try to understand. :p

A little bit of both. ;) We've got the loyalty to stick by him no matter what, and the blindness to declare with a straight face his eventual domination inevitable (because, you know, it really is).

He is consistently in the top 100, and DNF lists. That much is irrefutable. Oh Andy how did it come to this ?

With Andy, my trick is to expect him to fail. so whenever he rides with the fav group, i get excited.

i think tomorrow at verbier is absolutely massive for andy , he has to put in a bold show otherwise i dont think he deserves a place in the team to ride the tour . i think he has to go for broke and try and win the stage .

i joined this forum as one of his biggest fans only to turn into one of his critics , i would enjoy nothing more to see him return to past glories and i think tomorrow is do or die , we cant give him any more chances .

come on andy , do it galibier style !!

I don't think Andy needs a spectacular performance tomorrow. Finishing in a competitive group will be enough for the Tour selection. He's obviously progressing.

Dauphiné:
Zubeldia 28th at 30 minutes
Devolder DNF with illness
Roulston DNF with injury IIRC

Suisse:
Fränk DNF with concussion and hip injuries
Busche DNF with tendonitis

If they truly select the riders by form and recent results, Andy has to be there. He looks the best in shape right now out of all the possible Tour participants from Trek.

A lot of people on this forum regularly express their outrage and indignation about Andy's (counter-)performances, as if somehow his lack of form were a personal offence to them. If Andy shall forever disappear in the mediocracy of the peloton I will be disappointed, but I will still like him and support him. I don't think there is anything weird about that; after all, he is still the same person that he has always been. The weird thing to me is, as I've said, the cries of outrage that we can regularly read in this thread. I think it's just different mentalities though. I try not to take what happens in professional sports too seriously or affect my personal happiness (same as Andy?). Other people seem to take things personally and react more strongly to these events. It's all good fun.

To illustrate my point of view, allow me to quote the words of the great Hitch (the forum member, not the author): "There is more to this thing of ours than Col's and finish lines". :)

so Andy is safe to make the team as long as he can be top 25 here, good deal!!!

Just finishing in one of the front groups shouldn't be enough IMO. While he probably doesn't need a incredible performance to get selected for the Tour, he should still start the stage with a plan to try to do something to help animate the race.

He should try for his own good and the good of the team to try for the best result possible. I think he should go in the break and try to win the stage that way. At the very least he'll show the team that he really is trying and get some good training in before the Tour.

Despite Andy's patheticness, the Schlecks are still big publicity. Trek will take him if he even looks half decent.
But let's be honest, if he can't be in the top group of climbers at tour de suisse, he isn't going to be a top 20 at the tour de france.

One shall never doubt Andy's super peaking skills

I don't expect anything great from Andy on Verbier, but a top 30 would be a strong showing, especially if he can follow it up by getting into a break on Sunday's stage.

last year, after even a poorer showing in the early season, on albula pass in tour de suisse at the top he was within 45 seconds of the best, climbing it faster than in 2010.
so i think we can expect a top 10 or even better this time

He said yerterday he kept some strengh in the ITT to give it all this weekend, but he said he wont be able to be with the top ten riders. A stage just with Verbier is not the more suitable for him...Anyway he finished last year 40 in the GC, with an ITT with a hard mountain, so a top 20 this year in GC would be a very good signal looking at the TdF. We will see...
