well, not really, I understand in outline what you always talk about. I just don't get why the attitude that gives the result for 4 years should be changed.
He has changed this attitude though. Instead of two moments in a year when he lives up to his potential, it seems he's now content with only one: the Tour. There's simply no rider with such potential who does that anymore. Except Andy Schleck.

Probably, if such a change in the attitude didn't happen before, and all the more so it won't be in the the future. He just will crush the opposition in the Tour until his tremendous talent lets do that. It's his cycling world outlook - the Tour, a little bit of Ardennes, sometimes vacation in the Vuelta.

Maybe, next year we'll remember with nostalgy that in former times he rode Ardennes for the result. )

It has its advantages. If Andy had raced good everywhere, say, on Pays Vasco, Tirreno, etc, the others (Purito, Nibali,...) wouldn't have been unable to show themselves.

How can you criticise Alberto? I just don't get it.

Love him, okay, perfectly understandable of course.
Hate him, okay, you can think he is a doper.

But criticise.... I just can't see it.
He doesn't race enough one day races. We know he can win stage races, he's been doing that for ages. I'd like to see him branch out a bit as a cyclist. He should be racing for the win in the Ardennes, the Worlds, Lombardia and the Olympics.

Obviously he has an excuse to miss a few of those this year.

You are cunning. Yesterday if he flitted like a bird and won on Cauberg, you would have come in this thread and started whining about Hogmix and all that stuff.

Laughable.....

He has almost no chance to win those.

Personally I would have liked Alberto to say "**** Andy Pandy it's not my fault he can't shift gears"

2 colombier

Excuse the ignorance but what happened there?

3 haughty attitude to the Legend at the top of Tourmalet. The strongest climber got the stage! Let Contador slap on cheeks his puppies!

Andy should be grateful he got slapped on the cheek by The Great One. Many people dream of the day they get the honour to be slapped on the cheek by The Great One.

Still, I don't understand what was "haughy" about what he did there. He just tried to comfort little Andy Pandy. I mean, Andy Pandy had just lost the Tour. I'm sure Alberto saw Andy Pandy being a little teary-eyed.

Didn't he do just that in 2010 for Astana in Fleche Wallone and then in LBL successfully working for Vino? That in addition to the week long stage races he competed in.

and it resulted in not quite top shape in the tour.

I think it is wise by Contador to be in 80-85% shape all year and peak only in tour/Giro or this year Vuelta, instead of gambling on a peak also in april

+1 Exactly he needs to peak for the Tour but even if he's not in peak form he'll still win other races unlike a certain other rider. *cough* Andy Pandy *cough*
