Just imagine the whole thing: Froome and Contador looking at their power meters and dancing on their bikes, going all out on the final climb and attacking each other until they are both empty. When they look behind they both **** in their pants as they see not one, but two Schlecks looking *** and span. And then the legendary Schleck 1-2 for the win.
They are one hour ahead of Froome before the TT. Andy does his best performance in an ITT ever by losing only 59 minutes to Froome and winning the Tour...

I doubt there is any climbs in the tour long enough for the old 1-2 with half an hour break between 1 and 2.

PS: Hitch it was me. Your joke was so bad that I hacked the internets and shifted your joke into another reality so it will never be found again. ;)

Not by any mods, must have been lost in the forums problems earlier. Feel free to re-post it.

Yeah I know it was the virus I was just saying.

But a man never repeats his jokes anyway. It was a response to another post which was deleted anyhow.

Not the end of the world, I was just saying is all.

According to this article from Veloropa, the Schleck-brothers and Jungels has been doing recons of the TdF-stages in the Vosges recently. In addition to the recon of the cobbled stage, that is. (I posted a link to this a few days ago, but I can see there are some problems with the forum.)

I guess it's too much to expect them to recon Stage 20 (the TT stage).

Andy finished in the middle of the pack in today's prologue at the Skoda - Tour de Luxembourg. 41st place, 27 seconds off the (quite good) time set by winner Danny van Poppel. He rode the damp urban course of 2.55 kilometers at 34.642 kph.

Media reports quoted at cyclingquotes (a new site to me, do they just kind of repost stories from other sites without clear attribution or do they do their own journalism or what?) indicate that Frank says he and Andy are riding their home tour, "for fun." But also that they're riding it as Tour prep, so who knows what's up with those guys?

It means by saying they're riding it for fun that when/if they fail to impress, they can fall back on their rationale for being there. With their lack of results you would think that this close to the Tour they'd be looking for some signs of life in their performances. We'll see.

One thing that's always bothered me about the Schlecks is their inability to try new techniques in the build up for the tour. Why not try and get a big result early like Froome/Contador etc, if nothing else it will help their mental state to get a good early season result. Just showing up to the Tour is not working for them anymore, they need a coach who will motivate them. Always felt like they behaved way to prima donna, choosing their races and dropping out if forced otherwise.

Serious question. Does anyone know how much the Schlecks are paid to do "what they do"?

They should have a contract similar to the football player Vieri had some years ago, a low salary, but huge bonuses every time he scored/they win a race :D

iirc about 2 million euros.

No that was with Leopard. They had to take a large paycut with Trek, several sources claim their current salary to be around €500.000

Actually,Schleck have an active Discussion Thread on the most watched cycling forum and also,a lot of news about his condition. On the other hand,Cancellara for example,is anonymous at this time of year.

Who bring more publicity?

Well if they want a lot of negative publicity then sure keep Andy. :D His most recent article on this website was about how he knew he SHOULDN'T be considered a favorite for the Tour. That's pretty sad considering what he used to be. When he is in a race you have to scroll down pretty far on the results to find his name. Cancellara however got plenty of GOOD publicity during his spring campaign. I'm sure Trek would rather have him producing good results over just getting his name in the newspaper.

I don't think Trek is using the Schlecks to sell bicycles, at least not to the general public.

As for Fabian and his relative worth to the company, well, Fabian has already inked a contract to ride with them next year, unlike Frank and Andy.

That begs the question, what ARE they 'using' them for?

Frank and Andy Schleck expect to be team leader for "2 more years" before passing on the reigns to younger riders, teaching them "how to have fun"...boggles the mind these two. I expect both will be out of contract this year and I can't think of anyone who would pick them up as team leaders. I am not even so sure they could be signed as domestiques, considering that they refuse to race most of the season. I think this could be a curtain call year for both the Schlecks

I'll take your points regarding Andy, but (1) you're attributing what the article said solely about Frank to both brothers re team leadership and "fun" and so on and (2) Frank seems to be making some efforts this year. He hasn't been terrible like his brother, more like anonymous.
