Sounds very much like the Peloton is divided on this one, with Cervelo doing much of the talking as they did in Qatar. The two teams are likely to be fighting over similar wild cards.. maybe cervelo are trying to show Sky whos boss..

Of course, if Hammond was wiggins mouthing off we'd all be calling him a tool

I feet their is wrong on both sides. Sky accelerating through the feedzone and expecting other teams to chase was a little bit stupid. Though splitting the field when someone is taking a leak is not nice. Hammond didn't make the smartest comment of them all.

Jalabert got attacked when taking a pee in the MJ at the Tour but attacking in the feedzone shows no class.

Well according to R. Hammond, he just moved up to the front, but he didn't put on the hurt himself.

Don't know if that's believable, but if so, it's undetstandable why he defends himself against the criticism.

Ok, so he's not on form, that only means he won't do 53 km/h but I'm guessing a cool 49 km/h is enough to beat everyone this time of year.

But it lacks class to attack the lead rider while taking a slash. cervelo seem to be going out of their way to make enemies, while quite a few other riders have felt sorry for ebh. there could be some interesting alliances between certain teams. i still think ebh has a fair few friends at htc. stupid twitter comment by robbie hunter though, hes a ****. he could learn a lot about humility.

Every action has a reaction. There was no need to race through a feed zone. Not only is it unnecessary, it's freaking dangerous. In both instances you have a lack of common courtesy, so I think there is plenty of blame to go around here. Plus, taking a whizz with 55KM to go is just asking for trouble.

EBH should have let it go - I thought the SuperSkybus had on board laundry facilities - this was either gross naivety or plain bad advice - and there seems to be a bit of that around at Sky (how many jerseys have they lost in the past few weeks?)

Aren't the sympa comments coming exclusively from Sky riders? They were hoist by their own petard - attacking the MJ is certainly not unheard of, happened to Jalabert in the 2000 TdF but attacking through a feed zone is truly unprofessional - again, not unheard of for a small group to drive off the front as the peloton take it easy but stupid tactics to cause such unnecessary mayhem.

Just exactly what happened during the 187km stage is very difficult to understand, with almost everyone Cyclingnews talked to giving a different version of events

In that case, we should be thankful a verbose response from Hammond to give us some idea about what went on so I won't lump him to the tool box with Wiggins.

I seem to recall Columbia complaining at last years tour that noone was helping them bring back breaks, they accepted the responsibility and chased, and get 6 stages. If the reports I've read (only on this site are true) Sky acted like petulant children, broke etiquette, and then a bunch of guys broke ettiquette back. Seems fair, it's not like its a GT.

I just hope this is the end of it, lesson learned for everyone.

Yeah, but that was Columbia, America's team. They used their take charge go-getter American attitude to lead when no one else would help. Sky, a British team, needs others to follow. Now if the Americans would have told them what to do, they would have done it without hesitation or thought.
