It's funny how Meyer is the Australian time trial champion, but is nowhere close to being the best Aussie time trialist.

Not really. The best riders don't always ride the national chamionships.

Doubly so for the Aussie nats, since they are at an odd time for riders who race the Euro calendar.

Why would Porte be riding the Giro ? Unless they are having real doubts that Contador will make the start line for the TDF ?

Maybe he could just be skipping le tour and doing the giro vuelta double? Therefore he could be strong in both.

I suppose Clement is 3rd an not 4th?

Or did someone sneak in unnoticed?
Yeah, I think they got that wrong. I'm amazed by his time, he's been out for almost a year, this is his first TT since his return (except for that prologue).

To make sure Contador isn't 4 minutes down on Nibali after the TTT?

Porte wasn't going to be Saxo's GC contender for the Tour, as far as I know. So his inclusion here isn't an indication of any thoughts, one way or the other, about the chances that AC will ride the Tour. Now if they included Chris Sorenson on the team....

Yes, either they think the TDF will be too tough after the Giro or they think the UCI appeal will be upheld or maybe both. I think even Contador would struggle to win both this year. The Vuelta would make more sense.

Yes but wouldn't they be saving Porte for the tour. Trying to back up after a very tough giro in the tour is going to be super tough for even Contador.

1. Porte (SBS) 27’59” 2. Castroviejo (EUS) 28’45” 3. Lelay (ALM) 28’54” 4. Clement (RAB) 28\'57\" 5. Kern (EUR) 29\'00

Wiggins shouldn't be far away.

He was probably momentarily blinded by a reflection of his kit and bike.

Euroshiite have cut their live transmission down to 30 minutes, btw.
Extended highlights now look the best bet at 19-45CET.:(
