And being accused or suspected of cheating is not the same as getting caught. It's the same only in the court of public opinion.

So Floyd is justifiably stricken from the record books as ever having taken part in the Tour of 2006 because he was caught cheating.

This is how it should be, your convoluted sense of morality and sportsmanship notwithstanding.

Like he said, it depends on how you define "cheating".

If you define cheating as achieving an advantage over the other contenders unfairly, it's not clear that he did that.

If you define cheating as technically breaking the rules that everyone is supposed to follow, regardless of whether anyone actually follows them, yes, it's clear he did that.

"Cheating" is not necessarily like "speeding". That is, just because everyone else is driving 65 in a 55 does not mean your 65 in a 55 is not speeding.

But if you're technically breaking the rules by using, say a 14 pound bike instead of a regulation min 15 pound bike, it's not really cheating if everyone else is also using a 14 pound bike.

Having said that, if the technical rule is "no PEDs" but the understood rule by which everyone actually operates is "no PEDs that get detected by their pre-announced tests", then he still broke the actual operational rule, and, so it is cheating.

So, like he said, it does depend on how you define cheating.

Not really. If you want to get all morally relativistic on the subject then we can say that Floyd got busted for doing more drugs than his competition. Which is unfair to them.

He might have been going for Tour Win #5 next year if not for the naughty teams. Well, assuming he would have been able to beat Floyd in 2006 and beat Carlos in 2008. Big "ifs" no doubt.

Don't forget that AC was also banned. He wasn't just in ONCE/Liberty and wasn't one of the unfortunate few who missed out because of others. Even Vino wasn't named in Puerto but 12months later he tested positive for a homogoulous blood transfusion.
